It also expanded HYPR-Tune support for Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, 24.3.1 is now an archived release, so it is generally not the right driver to install on a modern system in 2026 unless you are reproducing an older setup or troubleshooting a specific compatibility issue.
What AMD Adrenalin 24.3.1 added
AMD’s official release notes list three games under New Game Support:

- Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition
- Outpost: Infinity Siege
The release also expanded HYPR-Tune support for Dragon’s Dogma 2, Diablo IV, Ghostrunner 2 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition is not listed in that HYPR-Tune section.
That distinction matters. “New game support” indicates AMD added game-specific driver or profile support; it does not guarantee a particular frame-rate increase, eliminate every game bug or make demanding features such as ray tracing practical on every compatible Radeon GPU.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
What HYPR-Tune support means
HYPR-Tune connects supported games with AMD’s HYPR-RX-related features and profiles. The release notes confirm AMD’s software support designation, but the appropriate settings still depend on the GPU, resolution, game preset and desired frame-rate target. Automatic features are not a universal replacement for checking image quality, latency and stability manually.
In 24.3.1, Dragon’s Dogma 2 appears in both the new-game-support list and the expanded HYPR-Tune list. Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition appears only in the former.
Other fixes and improvements
Beyond the launch support entries, AMD listed several notable changes:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- A fix for excessive intermittent micro-stutter after enabling AMD Fluid Motion Frames in select games.
- Improvements for intermittent crashes or driver timeouts in HELLDIVERS 2 on Radeon RX 7900-series GPUs.
- Improvements for StarCraft II crashes or driver timeouts on Radeon RX 7000-series GPUs.
- Reduced initial loading times for World of Warcraft with DirectX 12 on some AMD graphics products, including the RX 6800.
- A fix for purple corruption in Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition when Radeon Boost and ray tracing were enabled.
The release still had known issues. AMD reported artifacts in certain SnowRunner mud environments, SmartAccess Video potentially being incorrectly reported as available when Parsec Virtual Display Driver was installed, and intermittent audio/video desynchronization during AV1 recording. AMD also warned that some per-game profiles could change to HYPR-RX Eco after an upgrade.

Compatible Radeon GPUs and Windows versions
The main 24.3.1 package covered these discrete Radeon families:
- Radeon RX 7900, 7800, 7700 and 7600 Series
- Radeon RX 6900, 6800, 6700, 6600, 6500 and 6400 Series
- Radeon RX 5700, 5600, 5500 and 5300 Series
AMD’s reference notebook support included the Radeon RX 7900M, RX 6800M, RX 6700M, RX 6600M, RX 6500M, RX 6300M, RX 5700M, RX 5600M, RX 5500M and RX 5300M.
The package was designed for Windows 10 64-bit version 1809 or later and Windows 11 version 21H2 or later, although exact support can vary by product.

Radeon VII, Radeon RX Vega, Radeon Pro Duo and Radeon RX 400/500-series products used AMD’s separate Polaris and Vega 24.3.1 package. Its release notes do not repeat the main RDNA package’s new-game-support section. Therefore, the shared “24.3.1” label does not mean that every Radeon generation received identical game profiles or features.

How demanding is Dragon’s Dogma 2?
According to the game’s Steam listing, the minimum AMD GPU is a Radeon RX 5500 XT with 8GB of VRAM, while the recommended AMD GPU is a Radeon RX 6700. Steam lists an RX 6800 or equivalent for ray tracing and estimates minimum performance around 1080p at 30 frames per second, with possible drops in graphics-intensive scenes.
Those are the game’s published hardware requirements, not a promise from AMD and not evidence that 24.3.1 produces a specific frame rate. Driver support and game performance are separate questions.
Should you install 24.3.1 today?
For players preparing for the March 2024 launches, installing 24.3.1 was a sensible day-one update, especially if the existing driver predated it or the system needed one of its listed fixes.

For a new installation in 2026, use AMD’s latest driver appropriate for your GPU instead. Version 24.3.1 is archived, and later releases may provide newer game fixes, operating-system compatibility and features. AMD still provides the old package through its release-notes page, but its availability in the archive does not make it current.

An older driver can still be useful for an archived test environment, a regression comparison, software preservation or a title-specific troubleshooting experiment. It should not be treated as a blanket recommendation to downgrade.

- Identify the exact GPU and whether the computer is a desktop, laptop, all-in-one or handheld.
- Download the package from AMD’s official release-notes or support page, not a third-party mirror.
- Confirm whether the GPU belongs to the main package or requires the separate Polaris/Vega package.
- Download the Windows 10/11 64-bit installer.
- Use an administrator account; AMD states that administrator rights are required to complete installation.
- If a preview or Insider driver was installed previously, follow AMD’s recommendation to run AMD Cleanup Utility before installing the archived package.
- Restart Windows after installation.
- Verify the installed version in AMD Software or Windows Device Manager.
- Test the game using the resolution, ray-tracing setting, HYPR-RX or AFMF state and frame-rate target that matter to you.
The main package was driver version 23.40.27.01, with Windows Driver Store version 31.0.24027.1012. AMD listed the WHQL-recommended release at approximately 707MB.
Laptop and handheld cautions
AMD describes its notebook package as a reference driver with limited support for system-vendor-specific features. For laptops and all-in-one PCs, use the manufacturer’s driver if the AMD.com package causes problems with switchable graphics, power management, display routing or other vendor features.
AMD’s generic Adrenalin package was not intended to support handheld gaming devices. Handheld owners should obtain graphics drivers from the device manufacturer.
The verdict
Adrenalin 24.3.1 was a legitimate March 2024 launch-focused release: AMD listed support for both Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, while giving only Dragon’s Dogma 2 the expanded HYPR-Tune designation. It was useful context for Radeon players at the time, but in 2026 the latest compatible AMD or OEM driver is normally the better choice.
