The AMD Radeon RX 7600 is a 1080p-focused graphics card with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory and a 165 W typical board-power rating. It can make sense for a budget gaming PC if its price is right and your priority is conventional 1080p rendering. Its 8 GB memory limit, weaker fit for demanding ray tracing, and the availability of newer alternatives make price and game choice decisive. The latest dated price evidence available here is an Amazon listing at $259 on August 20, 2026—not a live quote—so check local prices and current comparative tests before buying.
What the RX 7600 is designed to do
AMD positions the Radeon RX 7600 as a desktop GPU for 1080p gaming and streaming. The card is based on RDNA 3 and has 32 compute units, 2,048 stream processors, 32 ray accelerators, and 64 AI accelerators. AMD lists a boost frequency of up to 2,655 MHz; actual clock behavior depends on the card and workload.
Its memory configuration is 8 GB of GDDR6 on a 128-bit interface, supported by 32 MB of Infinity Cache. AMD lists memory bandwidth of up to 288 GB/s. These are specifications, not a guarantee that every game will run at a particular quality or frame rate.
How fast is it at 1080p?
AMD published selected 1080p results using maximum settings, with High settings identified for two games. These are the company’s own measurements from May 2023, not independent results or a prediction for every PC. AMD’s test system used a Ryzen 5 7600X, 32 GB of DDR5-6000 memory, Windows 11 Pro, and specified graphics drivers. Results can differ with the game version, settings, system, and driver.

Those figures show why the card was pitched at 1080p, but they come from a 2023 vendor test suite. They do not establish performance in newer games or how the RX 7600 compares with current cards at today’s prices. For a 60 FPS target in recent games, look for independent tests of the exact games you play, at the settings and resolution you intend to use.
Where 8 GB of VRAM becomes a constraint
Eight gigabytes is the RX 7600’s most important compromise. PCWorld’s May 2023 review described it as a capable 1080p card while warning that some memory-intensive games can require graphics-setting adjustments to fit the available memory. That does not mean every demanding game will exceed 8 GB, but it does make the card less comfortable for players who want to keep high-resolution textures and other memory-heavy settings enabled across newer releases.
When a game stutters, reports low memory, or performs poorly with demanding textures, reducing texture quality or other memory-intensive options may help. If you expect to play newer, demanding games at high settings for several years, compare alternatives with more VRAM and independent performance tests before choosing.

Ray tracing and upscaling
The RX 7600 includes ray accelerators, so it can render ray-traced effects in supported games. That hardware feature alone does not make it a strong choice for demanding ray tracing: PCWorld’s launch-era assessment judged its ray-tracing performance weak for its price. Enabling those effects can reduce frame rates, and whether the trade-off is worthwhile depends on the game and the image quality you want.
Upscaling can recover performance by rendering internally at a lower resolution and reconstructing the image for display. At 1080p, that lower-resolution source can make image-quality compromises more noticeable. PCWorld discussed that limitation in its launch review; consider the quality of the game’s upscaling implementation and the resulting image, not just the frame-rate gain.
Power, connectors, and card fit
AMD specifies 165 W typical board power, one 8-pin additional power connector, and a minimum 550 W power-supply recommendation. AMD notes that system requirements vary with configuration. Check your PSU’s available connector and capacity before installation; these specifications do not by themselves mean you need to replace a working power supply.

AMD’s reference dimensions are 204 mm long and two slots, but RX 7600 partner cards can differ in length, thickness, cooling, and ports. Check the exact model against your case clearance and other components. AMD lists HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort up to 2.1, though the ports available on a specific board depend on its implementation.
Video encoding and display features
AMD lists AV1, H.264, and H.265 encoding and decoding support. AV1 encoding can be useful for compatible recording or streaming workflows, but the GPU’s support does not guarantee that a particular application, platform, or capture setup will use it. Verify software compatibility and the exact card’s outputs for your setup.
Price and whether to buy
The RX 7600 launched in the United States at a suggested etail price of $269, with availability announced for May 25, 2023. That is historical context, not a current price. TechSpot’s pricing page recorded an Amazon listing at $259 on August 20, 2026; it is the latest dated price evidence cited here, not a live October 4, 2026 quote. Confirm the precise board variant, stock, shipping, and local currency before making a purchase.

There is not enough current comparative pricing and testing in this evidence to declare the RX 7600 the best-value card in 2026. Compare cards actually available in your market using recent tests at 1080p and similar settings, then weigh:
- Street price: Compare the total price of the exact models in stock, not launch prices or an old listing.
- Game performance: Use comparable tests in the games you play; a result from another game or a different settings preset is not a direct substitute.
- Memory: Consider whether 8 GB suits your texture settings and the games you expect to play.
- Features: Compare ray tracing, upscaling, and frame-generation support alongside the visual and performance trade-offs.
- Build fit: Check power draw, connectors, card dimensions, and cooling for each specific model.
At a genuinely low local price, the RX 7600 is worth considering for a budget build focused on standard 1080p gaming. Choose a better-performing or higher-memory option if current tests and prices justify the extra cost, or if demanding ray tracing and high texture settings are priorities.
