AMD’s Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.10.2 release notes reported up to 18% better performance in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare than with 19.10.1. That maximum applied to a Radeon RX 5700 XT using Ultra presets; it is not a promise of an 18% gain on other hardware or settings. Activision also listed 19.10.2 as its recommended AMD driver for that game, but the version is historical—not a recommendation to install it today.
What the 18% figure actually describes
The figure comes from AMD’s release-note wording, reproduced by Guru3D: with Ultra presets on a Radeon RX 5700 XT, players could achieve “up to 18% better performance” in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with Adrenalin 19.10.2 than with 19.10.1. The original AMD release-note page redirected to a general driver page when checked, so the reproduced wording is the available record of AMD’s claim.
“Up to” marks a best-case vendor-reported result, not a typical or guaranteed increase. The available claim identifies the GPU, preset, game, and comparison driver, but does not establish broader test methodology. No independent benchmark reproducing the 18% result is established here.
Which game and driver version were involved?
This is a retrospective about the original 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the comparison between Radeon Software Adrenalin 19.10.2 and 19.10.1. It should not be confused with Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, or Modern Warfare 4.

#1 Best Overall
- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
Activision’s driver guidance listed Radeon Software 19.10.2 for the original Modern Warfare, while giving different AMD driver versions for other entries: 22.9.1 for Modern Warfare II, 23.10.2 for Modern Warfare III, and 25.5.1 for Black Ops 6. These are the versions shown in that guidance when checked, not timeless requirements; consult the page for current game-specific advice.
Does the claim apply to current AMD drivers or newer Call of Duty games?
No such conclusion follows from the 2019 comparison. AMD’s Adrenalin 26.9.2 optional-driver notes, last updated September 29, 2026, list support for “Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 4 campaign early access.” That is a different game and does not repeat or validate the old 18% figure for the 2019 title. The notes list Windows 10 64-bit version 21H2 and later and Windows 11 version 21H2 and later, with compatible Radeon families including RX 9000, RX 7000, RX 6000, and RX 5000. For laptops and all-in-one PCs, AMD advises that OEM drivers may be customized for system features and compatibility.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal heat transfer, lowering GPU temperatures for enhanced performance and reliability
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- Dual-ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as standard conventional sleeve bearings designs
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
These current notes are release-specific, not a substitute for checking the exact game and system. A driver supporting a newer Call of Duty release does not show that it reproduces a historical result on a Radeon RX 5700 XT.

How to choose a driver for your PC
- Identify the exact game. Check whether you mean the 2019 Modern Warfare or a different Call of Duty title; their driver guidance can differ.
- Identify your graphics hardware and system. Note the Radeon GPU model and whether the PC is a laptop or all-in-one, where the manufacturer may provide a customized driver.
- Check the current official guidance. Use Activision’s game-specific support page and the graphics-card or PC manufacturer’s driver support page. Activision advises obtaining drivers from the video-card manufacturer.
- Do not install 19.10.2 solely to chase the 18% result. That version appears in a 2019 comparison and historical recommendation; it is not current update advice.
