The AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition was a 16GB HBM2 graphics card for professional and creator workloads, including machine-learning development, visualization, and game development. The preorder headline dates to June 2017: it is not evidence that the card is available to order today.
What was the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition?
AMD introduced the Radeon Vega Frontier Edition as a physical graphics card based on its high-end Vega architecture. Its positioning differed from a conventional gaming-card launch: AMD highlighted machine-learning algorithm development with ROCm, advanced visualization, virtual reality and 360-degree video creation, and game-development workflows. These were manufacturer-stated target uses, not a guarantee of results in every application.

The card had 16GB of HBM2 memory. AMD announced 64 compute units and 4,096 stream processors, and estimated peak performance at 25 TFLOPS for FP16 and 13 TFLOPS for FP32. Those compute figures were AMD estimates, not independently verified test results. AMD’s May 16, 2017 product announcement

What did performance claims and reviews establish?
AMD said the card delivered up to 33% faster performance than “the competition” in DeepBench, based on AMD Performance Labs testing dated May 15, 2017. That was a vendor claim about a particular benchmark, not a general result for machine-learning tasks or a substitute for independent testing. AMD’s launch announcement

A Tom’s Hardware review published August 2, 2017 found strong results in targeted professional applications and cited support for Radeon Pro certified drivers as relevant to that performance. This is historical review context; it does not establish how the card performs or is supported by present-day applications and drivers. Tom’s Hardware’s August 2, 2017 review

Current stock, price, warranty, and software support are not established by the available information. Anyone considering a used card should verify the seller’s listing directly, confirm whether it is the air-cooled or water-cooled edition, and assess the specific card’s condition and included accessories. The 2017 preorder and suggested prices should not be treated as current market values.
