amdihk64.dll is a legitimate 64-bit AMD Radeon graphics component. If Windows or a game says it is missing, not found, damaged, or untrusted, repair the AMD graphics installation rather than downloading a loose DLL.
The most reliable fix is to reinstall the correct AMD Software package. If the error appeared during an Easy Anti-Cheat game launch, also repair the game installation, EAC, and Windows system files.

The filename alone does not identify the exact AMD driver package. Different driver releases and manufacturer-customized laptop packages can contain copies with different sizes.

A legitimate copy should normally be in the expected driver location and carry an AMD digital signature. A file with the same name in a temporary folder, a game folder, or a random user-writable directory deserves additional scrutiny.
What the error means
The wording points to the likely failure:
- “amdihk64.dll is missing” or “was not found”: the file was removed, quarantined, or the AMD installation is incomplete.
- “Could not be loaded”: Windows found the file but could not use it, often because the installation or a dependency is damaged.
- “Not designed to run on Windows” or “contains an error”: the file may be corrupted, mismatched with the installed driver, or incompatible with the current installation state.
- “Untrusted system file”: Easy Anti-Cheat found an integrity, signature, or system-state problem. This does not prove that the AMD file is malware.
- Radeon Software crashes: the AMD package may contain mixed files after an update, rollback, or failed uninstall.
Work through the following fixes in order.
1. Reinstall the correct AMD graphics driver
This is the most likely solution for a missing or damaged amdihk64.dll.
Before reinstalling
- Save open work.
- Install pending Windows updates.
- Restart Windows.
- Identify your graphics hardware:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Write down the AMD GPU name.
Download the driver through AMD’s official Drivers and Support page. Select your graphics product, operating system, and the current AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition package. Do not use a DLL download page.

Laptop makers often customize graphics packages for the display, power controls, switching graphics, and firmware. If AMD’s generic package repeatedly causes the error, use the validated package for the exact computer model.
Install the package
- Close games, launchers, overlays, tuning utilities, and Radeon Software.
- Run the AMD installer.
- Accept the license terms.
- Choose the recommended installation option.
- Allow the display to flicker or go blank during installation.
- Restart when prompted.
- Launch Radeon Software or the affected game.
The repair worked if the application starts without the DLL message, Device Manager shows the AMD adapter without a warning icon, and the AMD installer completes normally.
If the installer fails, reports that an older package cannot be removed, or the error returns immediately, continue with the clean-removal procedure below.
When manually hunting through several driver packages, it is easy to select the wrong GPU or leave an outdated component behind. 2. Use AMD Cleanup Utility for a failed installation
A normal reinstall may not remove mixed files from a partial upgrade. AMD Cleanup Utility is designed for this situation. AMD states that it removes AMD graphics and audio drivers and software, creates a restore point, and does not remove AMD chipset drivers.

- Download AMD Cleanup Utility from AMD’s official support site.
- Create a restore point if Windows does not create one automatically.
- Close all applications.
- Run the utility.
- Accept the prompt to restart into Safe Mode.
- Let cleanup finish without interrupting it.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the correct AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition package.
- Restart again.
Do not manually delete files from System32 while the cleanup is running. Do not install an older and newer AMD package on top of each other simply to make the filename reappear.
If the cleanup utility cannot complete, disconnect unnecessary external displays and USB devices, temporarily close monitoring or overclocking utilities, and retry in Safe Mode. If it still fails, use the computer manufacturer’s graphics package or the manufacturer’s support process.
3. Repair an Easy Anti-Cheat launch failure
Games using Easy Anti-Cheat may report:
Untrusted system file (C:WindowsSystem32amdihk64.dll)
That message means EAC rejected the file or the surrounding Windows state. It does not automatically mean that the AMD file is malicious.
Perform these repairs:
- Restart Windows.
- Open the game launcher.
- Use its Verify, Repair, or Verify integrity of game files command.
- Open the game’s installation folder.
- Find the Easy Anti-Cheat setup program.
- Run it as administrator.
- Choose the affected game.
- Select Repair Service if available.
- Restart Windows.
- Try the game again.
A launcher’s file verification repairs the game files. It does not necessarily repair the AMD graphics driver, so perform the AMD reinstall as well.
Also close overlays, hardware monitors, RGB utilities, frame-rate limiters, and GPU tuning tools before launching the game. Update Windows and install the current Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable if the game’s support instructions require it. Installing Visual C++ does not replace amdihk64.dll.
If EAC still rejects the file, continue with Windows component repair.
4. Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use these commands when the error affects Windows itself, EAC reports an untrusted system file, or several applications show damaged-component errors.

- Right-click Start.
- Select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
Microsoft recommends DISM before SFC. DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks protected Windows files. These commands do not reinstall AMD’s graphics package, so repeat the AMD driver installation if amdihk64.dll itself remains missing.
Possible SFC results include:
- No integrity violations: Windows protected files appear intact. Focus on the AMD driver, EAC, or antivirus.
- Corrupt files repaired: restart and test the affected application.
- Some files could not be repaired: run DISM again, restart, and repeat SFC. If the result persists, inspect the CBS log or use System Restore.

5. Check antivirus quarantine and the file signature
Security software can quarantine or remove a driver file. Do not restore a file merely because its name is amdihk64.dll.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Open Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
amdihk64.dll. - Check the reported path.
- Restore it only if the file is in the expected AMD driver location and its publisher is AMD.
- Run a full security scan.
- Reinstall the AMD driver afterward.
To inspect an existing file:
- Open File Explorer.
- Browse to
C:WindowsSystem32. - Right-click
amdihk64.dll. - Select Properties.
- Open the Digital Signatures tab.
- Select the AMD signature.
- Choose Details.
- Confirm that Windows reports the signature as valid.
A missing signature, unexpected path, or detection from a reputable security product is a reason to quarantine the file and perform a full scan. Do not permanently disable antivirus protection to make a game launch.
6. Confirm the architecture and location
Windows uses System32 for 64-bit system files and SysWOW64 for 32-bit system files. Despite the confusing names, this is the normal Windows arrangement.
For this file:
amdihk64.dllis the 64-bit component.amdihk32.dllis the corresponding 32-bit name reported in AMD installations.- Do not copy the 32-bit file over the 64-bit file.
- Do not copy either file from another computer.
- Do not move the file into a game folder unless the AMD installer places it there.
To check the file’s properties, right-click it in File Explorer and open Properties. Look at the Details and Digital Signatures tabs. The metadata should be consistent with AMD Radeon software, but the exact version and file size can vary between packages.
7. Understand why regsvr32 usually does not help
regsvr32 is not a general DLL repair command. It registers a DLL only when that DLL implements the DllRegisterServer entry point, typically for certain COM components.
amdihk64.dll is an AMD graphics-driver component, not a DLL that should normally be repaired by manual registration. Running commands such as these is therefore not a sensible first fix:

They will not restore a missing file, correct a mismatched driver package, or fix EAC integrity checks. If Windows displays a registration error, reinstall the AMD driver instead.
8. When Windows Features or System Restore apply
Windows Features is not the normal repair route for amdihk64.dll. Do not enable random optional features such as legacy components in the hope that they will restore an AMD driver file.
You can check Windows Features when another application explicitly names a required Windows component:
- Press Windows key.
- Type Windows Features.
- Open Turn Windows features on or off.
- Change only the feature required by the application.
- Restart if Windows requests it.
Use System Restore when the error began immediately after a driver or Windows change and a suitable restore point exists:
- Press Windows key.
- Type Create a restore point.
- Open it.
- Select System Restore.
- Choose a restore point dated before the failure.
- Review the affected programs.
- Start the restore.
System Restore is not a substitute for backups and does not guarantee that a damaged AMD package will be permanently corrected. Reinstall the correct driver afterward if necessary.

Do not download amdihk64.dll from a random DLL website. A loose download can contain malware, use the wrong architecture, have an incompatible version, lack a valid AMD signature, or leave the damaged driver installation untouched.
Do not copy a DLL from another PC into System32. Do not rename amdihk32.dll to amdihk64.dll. Do not run regsvr32 repeatedly. Do not disable antivirus permanently. Do not install a generic desktop driver over a laptop’s customized package without checking the manufacturer’s support instructions.

If the error keeps returning
Record these details before seeking further support:
- The complete error text
- The exact file path
- GPU model
- Windows edition and build
- AMD driver version
- Game and EAC version, if involved
- Digital-signature result
- Antivirus action
- AMD installer result
AMD installer logs are normally stored at:
C:Program FilesAMDCIMLogInstall.log
If a clean AMD reinstall, EAC repair, DISM, and SFC do not resolve the problem, check disk health and consider System Restore. A recurring failure may indicate storage corruption, an OEM driver conflict, a security product repeatedly quarantining the file, or a broader Windows installation problem.
FAQ
Is amdihk64.dll malware?
Not by itself. It is a legitimate AMD Radeon component when it is in the expected location and carries a valid AMD signature. Verify the path and signature instead of trusting the filename alone.
Is amdihk64.dll part of Windows?
No. Windows may load it from System32, but AMD graphics software installs it there.
Should I download the file separately?
No. Reinstall the AMD driver package that owns the file. A loose DLL does not restore the package’s dependencies, signature state, registry configuration, or device-driver relationship.
Is amdihk64.dll 32-bit or 64-bit?
The 64 name identifies the 64-bit component. The related amdihk32.dll file is not a substitute.
Why does Easy Anti-Cheat call it untrusted?
EAC can reject a file because of corruption, a changed signature, a mismatched driver state, Windows damage, or interference from another utility. The warning does not prove that AMD’s file is malicious.
Will Visual C++ fix it?
Only if the complete application error also identifies a missing Visual C++ runtime. Visual C++ does not replace or repair the AMD graphics DLL.

Install the correct AMD graphics package. If that fails or the error returns, run AMD Cleanup Utility in Safe Mode, reinstall the package, repair EAC if relevant, and then run DISM followed by SFC.
