AMD released its Adrenalin Edition 24.20.19.05 beta driver on November 1, 2024, adding Dragon Age: The Veilguard to AMD’s supported games list just after the game’s October 31 launch. It was a targeted, optional launch-day update—not a guaranteed performance fix and not a universal driver for every Radeon-powered PC.
For readers checking this driver now, the important distinction is that AMD later listed The Veilguard in the stable Adrenalin 24.12.1 release. The old beta is therefore mainly relevant as historical launch support; use the latest compatible AMD or system-manufacturer driver rather than hunting for 24.20.19.05 by default.

What AMD’s beta driver changed
AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.20.19.05 added Dragon Age: The Veilguard under “New Game Support.” AMD also listed Slitterhead as new game support and included a fix for texture corruption that could appear in The Crew Motorfest.
The release notes identify the Windows Driver Store version as 32.0.12019.5003. AMD’s technical details are available in the official release notes.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
AMD’s announcement appeared on November 1, 2024, one day after The Veilguard launched. That timing makes 24.20.19.05 a near-launch beta intended for players who wanted early driver-level support.
“Support” can include a game profile, launch-compatibility work, rendering fixes or driver optimizations. It does not mean AMD promised a particular frame-rate increase. The release notes do not publish a Veilguard-specific FPS uplift, nor do they promise to eliminate every crash, stutter or graphical problem.
Compatible Radeon hardware
AMD’s package covered the following desktop Radeon families:

This is not a universal AMD graphics package. AMD describes the notebook portion as a reference driver with limited support for manufacturer-specific features and recommends using the laptop or all-in-one manufacturer’s driver when one is available. OEM packages may be needed for display switching, brightness controls, sleep behavior, hotkeys, power management and other custom functions.
AMD Software’s package does not include support for handheld gaming devices. Owners of devices such as gaming handhelds should use the driver supplied by the handheld manufacturer. The package is also not intended for AMD Radeon products running through Apple Boot Camp.
Supported Windows versions
Adrenalin 24.20.19.05 was intended for:
- Windows 11 version 21H2 and later
- Windows 10 64-bit version 1809 and later
It does not support 32-bit Windows 10. Administrator rights are required to complete installation.

Installing a supported driver does not make an underpowered PC meet The Veilguard’s system requirements. EA lists these PC specifications:

See EA’s complete Dragon Age: The Veilguard system requirements for the official list.
There is a potentially confusing hardware mismatch: EA names the older Radeon R9 290X as the game’s minimum AMD GPU, but AMD’s compatibility list for this beta package begins with RX 5000-series desktop cards. Meeting EA’s minimum GPU requirement does not automatically mean that the GPU is supported by Adrenalin 24.20.19.05.
Should you install the beta driver?
For a player at launch in November 2024, installing it made sense when the PC used supported Radeon hardware and the player wanted early Veilguard support or was seeing launch-day rendering problems. The trade-off was the normal risk of beta-driver regressions in other games or system features.
Waiting was more sensible when the existing driver was stable, the player did not own supported hardware, or the PC was an OEM laptop, all-in-one or handheld that required a manufacturer-specific package.

For a current installation, the better choice is a later compatible stable driver. AMD’s Adrenalin 24.12.1 release notes also list Dragon Age: The Veilguard as supported. That establishes a stable successor to the launch beta without making any claim about which AMD driver is newest in 2026.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to install it safely
- Open AMD’s official 24.20.19.05 release-notes page and verify the GPU and Windows version.
- Download the appropriate Windows 10/11 64-bit package from AMD—or use the OEM package for a laptop or all-in-one.
- Close the game and unnecessary GPU-monitoring, tuning and overclocking utilities.
- Run the installer with administrator privileges.
- Use the normal upgrade installation unless there is a specific reason to remove the existing driver first.
- Restart Windows if prompted.
- Launch The Veilguard, confirm that it detects the expected GPU, and test stability before changing several graphics settings at once.
Installer labels can change between Adrenalin versions. AMD links its official Windows uninstall and installation guidance from the release notes; follow those current support pages rather than relying on third-party driver-cleaner tools.
If the beta causes problems
- Restart Windows and retest before assuming that installation failed.
- Check the installed driver version in AMD Software or Windows Device Manager.
- If the issue began immediately after the update, roll back to the previous known-good driver.
- Use AMD’s official uninstall procedure before reinstalling another version.
- On a laptop or all-in-one, restore the OEM driver if brightness, sleep, display switching, hotkeys or power-management functions stop working.
- On a handheld, replace the generic package with the driver from the handheld manufacturer.
- Temporarily disable overlays, third-party tuning utilities and aggressive overclocks while diagnosing crashes.
Do not treat the beta as a guaranteed fix for every Veilguard crash. AMD’s release information supports the narrower claim that the game was added to the supported-games list.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhy the release matters—and what it does not prove
The update was useful because it gave supported Radeon users a driver with launch-specific game support immediately after release. But its scope was limited: the official notes list the two new games and the The Crew Motorfest texture-corruption fix, not a broad rewrite of Radeon performance or a measured Veilguard frame-rate improvement.
It also does not prove that every Radeon GPU can run the game, that every laptop feature will work with AMD’s reference notebook package, or that a driver update can compensate for insufficient CPU, GPU, memory or storage performance.
