As of September 15, 2026, you should not pay extra for an eligible AMD component expecting to receive the game. Buy the hardware only if it suits your gaming system, and purchase Crimson Desert separately if you want to play it.

What AMD’s Crimson Desert bundle included
The 2026 campaign had separate qualification paths for CPUs and graphics cards. Buyers did not need to purchase both an eligible Ryzen processor and an RX 9070-series card. A qualifying product purchased through a participating retailer could generate its own promotional reward, subject to the campaign’s regional terms and availability.

This was a specific list, not a blanket offer for every Ryzen processor with “X3D” in its name. Other Ryzen 7000 or Ryzen 9000 X3D models should not be assumed to have qualified.

The GPU name alone was not always sufficient. Eligibility could depend on the exact board-partner model, retailer, region, purchase date, and whether the promotion was shown on the product page or at checkout. XFX specifically warned that some marketplace purchases might not qualify when the bundle was not displayed with the listing.
Selected laptops and desktops
Some complete systems also qualified, but the list varied by manufacturer and region. Examples shown on partner pages included the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 (2025), ASUS TUF Gaming A14 (2025 and 2026 models), ASUS ROG Strix G16 and G18, ASUS ROG GM700, MSI Raider A18 HX, and MSI Crosshair A18 HX.
That does not mean every laptop or desktop containing a mobile Ryzen chip was eligible. For a system purchase, check the manufacturer’s regional promotion page and the exact product listing rather than relying on the processor family alone.

The important dates
Purchase window: February 10–April 25, 2026
Game release: March 19, 2026
Redemption deadline: May 23, 2026
Status now: Expired
The published campaign information distinguishes the purchase period from the redemption period. Buying an eligible model by April 25 was not enough by itself; the promotional code also had to be redeemed by May 23.

Some vendor pages may still be accessible after the campaign ended. An undated banner should not override the dated terms. A product purchased after April 25 should be treated as ineligible for this promotion, even if its model appears on the historical qualifying list.
How redemption worked
For eligible purchases made during the valid period, the typical process was:
- Buy the qualifying AMD product from a participating retailer or e-tailer.
- Obtain the coupon code from the retailer, invoice, purchase confirmation, or purchase channel.
- Install the qualifying processor or graphics card in the computer being used for redemption.
- Sign in to or create an AMD Rewards account.
- Enter the promotional code.
- Run AMD’s Product Verification Tool when prompted.
- Select Crimson Desert as the reward.
- Complete the activation process, which could require signing in to or linking a Steam account.
The reward was handled through AMD Rewards rather than necessarily arriving as a conventional copy-and-paste Steam key. AMD’s store FAQ also says that codes for eligible AMD store orders were included in the invoice email sent when the product shipped.
The qualifying hardware generally had to be installed in the system performing verification. A buyer who purchased an eligible GPU or CPU but tried to redeem from another computer could therefore encounter a verification failure.
Retailer, marketplace, and regional restrictions
The campaign was available only through participating retailers, and regional availability and residency restrictions applied. Codes and rewards were also subject to the campaign terms, including age and other participation requirements.

Marketplace listings were a particular risk. A seller could advertise an eligible RX 9070-series model without participating in the bundle, sell an imported product covered by different regional terms, or omit the promotion entirely. For any historical eligibility dispute, retain:
- Your invoice and purchase date
- The retailer or marketplace seller’s name
- The exact CPU, GPU, or system model number
- A screenshot showing the bundle on the product page or at checkout
- Any coupon email, code, or shipping notification
Retailer instructions could be incomplete, so the campaign terms and the exact regional promotion page remain important. The campaign legal terms may also impose limits on participation, accounts, regions, or rewards.
Troubleshooting for previous buyers
“I bought an RX 9070, but I never received a code.”
Possible explanations include a nonparticipating retailer, an SKU that was not attached to the offer, a purchase outside the valid window, a code sent separately from the invoice, exhausted promotional availability, or regional exclusion. Check your spam folder and shipping or invoice emails, then contact the retailer first. Retailers or e-tailers generally distributed the coupon; AMD Rewards support is the next escalation point if the retailer confirms that the purchase qualified.
“The Product Verification Tool does not detect my hardware.”
Confirm that the exact qualifying CPU or GPU is installed in the computer being checked. Also verify that you are using the correct AMD Rewards account and that the product is the eligible model—not merely a similar processor, graphics card, or laptop configuration.

Do not alter system information or purchase documentation to force verification. That can invalidate the claim and violate the promotion’s conditions.
“I bought both an eligible CPU and GPU. Do I get two copies?”
Do not assume so. The CPU and GPU paths were described separately, but multiple-copy limits could apply by person, email address, household, product, or region. Any multiple-reward claim would need to be confirmed against the applicable regional terms.

Check the dates rather than relying on a surviving banner. The campaign’s last qualifying purchase date was April 25, 2026, and its redemption deadline was May 23, 2026.

No—not for the expired bundle. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Ryzen 9 9850X3D, Ryzen 9 9900X3D, Ryzen 9 9950X3D, Radeon RX 9070, and Radeon RX 9070 XT should be judged on their current hardware value, not on a game reward that ended months ago.
If you are considering a GPU upgrade
Compare the card’s current street price, resolution and refresh-rate target, performance in the games you actually play, power requirements, case clearance, and available alternatives. Confirm any new promotion directly on the retailer’s exact product page. The historical bundle does not establish performance rankings, frame rates, recommended settings, or image-quality results.

If you are considering a CPU upgrade
Buy an eligible X3D processor only when the broader upgrade makes sense. Check motherboard and BIOS compatibility, cooling, memory, power delivery, and whether your games are CPU-limited rather than waiting on the graphics card. A more expensive processor is difficult to justify solely to obtain a game that can be purchased separately.

Buying Crimson Desert separately
Crimson Desert is a single-player open-world action-adventure game from Pearl Abyss. It released on March 19, 2026. Steam listed the U.S. standard edition at $69.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $79.99 at the time of the campaign-status research; prices can change. Steam also listed Denuvo Anti-tamper.
If you want the game but do not need a new CPU, GPU, laptop, or desktop, the official Steam listing is the straightforward current route. Do not treat the historical AMD reward as a reason to buy obsolete, overpriced, or unnecessary hardware.
