Nolan North says he would gladly return as Nathan Drake, but his enthusiasm is not confirmation that a new Uncharted game is in development—or that he has been cast in one. In a report published October 5, 2026, GameSpot said North had not heard about a new game in which he might return and had not been asked to come back. His condition: a new entry should live up to the franchise’s legacy.
Would Nolan North return as Nathan Drake?
Yes. Speaking at Gamergy in Puerto Rico, North expressed strong interest in reprising the role. GameSpot quoted him saying, “110%. Absolutely. I think it would be one of the biggest games ever if they decided to do it. It just depends if Sony wants to make money.” The report also quoted him: “I absolutely would. I try to stay in shape just in case. I can’t see a scenario where I would say no. I always keep out hope.”
Those remarks describe North’s personal willingness, not a casting decision or production update. GameSpot reported that he had not heard about a new game where he might return and had not been approached to come back. The quotations here are attributed to GameSpot’s October 5, 2026 report; the event recording or a transcript was not independently checked.
What is Nolan North’s catch?
North wants a new Uncharted to protect the series’ reputation rather than return simply for the sake of another installment. GameSpot said he worried a new entry could fall short of the franchise’s standard and recounted his comparison to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

He also framed a hypothetical return as a major business decision. GameSpot attributed this remark to him: “It is a business-my god, can you imagine if they did? It would be the biggest announcement in gaming. I don’t think that’s hyperbole. I think that’s true.” His comments express hope and enthusiasm, but they do not establish that Sony has decided to make a sequel.
Is Uncharted 5 confirmed?
No announcement or release date for Uncharted 5 is confirmed in GameSpot’s report. It describes discussion of a new mainline game as rumors, and North’s comments do not verify that a project is underway. Treat claims about development, casting, or timing as unconfirmed unless Sony or the developers announce them.

What can you play while waiting?
Sony’s official PlayStation page for UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection lists the collection for PS5 and PC. It includes Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. It is an existing way to revisit those games, not a sequel announcement or a listing for Uncharted 5.
