To play, the host starts a session, chooses how many people can join, and selects a game; other players find that running game in AmigaLive and connect. A keyboard is supported, so a physical controller is optional.
What AmigaLive does
AmigaLive is a frontend for the FS-UAE Amiga emulator. The AmigaLive project describes it as a way for two or more players to connect and play the same Amiga game. Players can also share emulated Amiga hardware and peripherals, and the app includes a single-player list. The project focuses primarily on multiplayer.

AmigaLive distributes an unofficial FS-UAE package and notes that it may use beta features. That means FS-UAE’s developer support should not be assumed to cover problems specific to AmigaLive.

Download and version compatibility
At the time of the project’s download-page listing, the latest listed release was AmigaLive v0.984 build 271, dated April 2025. The page offered 64-bit packages for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It also listed an ARM32 AmigaLive binary that does not include FS-UAE or FS-UAE Launcher; the project warns that JIT compiler support is unavailable with that option. Check the AmigaLive homepage for the current bundle and platform details, since releases and availability can change.

Everyone in a session should use the same major FS-UAE version. The quick-start guide recommends matching the FS-UAE version across players to reduce desynchronization. Start with the latest AmigaLive bundle and coordinate versions with the people you plan to play with.
How to start or join a game
Host a session
- Open AmigaLive and turn off Play Offline.
- Choose the number of remote participants. The count includes the host and spectators.
- Select a server location, then choose a game and controller option.
- Start the session. FS-UAE opens and waits for the other players to connect.
Join a session
- Open AmigaLive and select the same server location as the host.
- Find the visible running game in the list.
- Select a controller port and join.
These steps follow the AmigaLive quick-start guide. Agree on the game, server location, and FS-UAE version before starting to avoid preventable mismatches.

Check latency before choosing a fast-paced game
During a session, press Tab to open AmigaLive’s in-game chat. It can send messages to connected players and display each player’s ping, which the project describes as round-trip latency to the server.

AmigaLive’s guidance is below 60 ms for fast-paced games and up to 150 ms for slower-paced games. The quick-start guide cautions that some games may be unsuitable above 150 ms. These are the project’s recommendations, not guaranteed performance thresholds; the experience also depends on the game and connection.

The project says Wi-Fi can work but is not recommended because dropped packets may increase latency. A wired or otherwise stable, low-latency connection is a sensible choice when available, though it cannot guarantee smooth play on every home network.

You can play without buying or connecting a controller. By default, the keyboard emulates joystick port 1 using the cursor keys and right Ctrl as the fire button. AmigaLive lists joystick, gamepad, keyboard, and mouse among its input options.

If you prefer physical controls, a USB gamepad or joystick is an optional accessory. The project says most USB gamepads and joysticks work after a one-time setup; button mapping may be needed through FS-UAE Launcher. Its joystick guide explains controller configuration. AmigaLive recommends a digital two-button joystick or an additional gamepad, but no particular model is required.
Saving, adding games, and other limitations
- Saving: Save states are not fully compatible with WHDLoad games. In multiplayer, disk modifications are removed to avoid desynchronization, so do not rely on multiplayer sessions for persistent disk changes.
- Adding games: You cannot currently add your own games directly. The project’s FAQ says you can request titles through its Discord wishlist.
- Serial-linked games: These are not fully supported through FS-UAE netplay.
- Offline mode: It still requires an internet connection. AmigaLive downloads game configurations at startup and retrieves required game files when a game launches.
- Controller problems: The FAQ directs users to button mapping through FS-UAE Launcher.
