But Among Us 3D does not crossplay with the original, 2D Among Us.
Can PC players play Among Us 3D with VR players?
Yes. Innersloth says PC and VR players can join the same Among Us 3D lobbies. The game supports 4–10 players, and its official page lists Steam PC, Meta Horizon Store, SteamVR, PlayStation VR2, and PICO as platforms. Check the relevant store listing for device and regional availability; a platform name alone does not establish compatibility with every device generation or purchasing arrangement. Innersloth’s current game page describes the cross-platform lobbies and available platforms.
Do you need a VR headset to play Among Us 3D?
No. The Steam PC version is the no-headset option; VR is an alternative way to play. The February 20, 2025 announcement introduced the PC release as a way to bring the first-person experience to players without VR hardware. Innersloth’s announcement, republished on Steam Community, states: “This crossplay experience brings the first-person aesthetic introduced in Among Us VR to Steam PC players.”
Can Among Us 3D crossplay with regular Among Us?
No. Crossplay applies to PC and VR players using Among Us 3D; the game is not compatible with the original Among Us. If your friends have the original game, they cannot join a 3D lobby. Confirm everyone has the same game before arranging a session. Innersloth states this limitation on both its current game page and the 2025 announcement.

When did Among Us 3D come out on PC?
The Steam PC release was reported for May 6, 2025. That date is historical, not an upcoming release window. UploadVR’s April 15, 2025 report also gave a $9.99 launch price; that was the reported launch price, not confirmation of today’s price. Current regional pricing is not established here, so check Steam or the relevant platform store for the price where you live.
What changes in the first-person version?
Among Us 3D uses first-person controls and includes native in-game proximity voice chat, according to Innersloth’s current game page. Proximity chat makes communication part of the nearby, first-person experience; it is a feature of this game, not evidence that the original 2D Among Us is compatible.

Developer Schell Games identifies the project as formerly known during development as Among Us VR and describes desktop and VR versions, controller support, and Tag Mode. The original VR project was rebuilt for VR rather than being a simple port, as detailed in Meta’s November 10, 2022 interview with project director Mike Traficante.
