That mix of meal, toy-like collectible and in-game reward gave adult fans a reason to see it as more than a movie tie-in. The promotion has ended: the U.S. meal launched April 1, 2025, and the skin-code deadline was December 31, 2025.
Was the Minecraft McDonald’s meal an adult Happy Meal?
In effect, it borrowed some of the appeal of a toy meal for an older audience, but McDonald’s did not officially call it an adult Happy Meal. In the U.S., its name was the A Minecraft Movie Meal, marketed alongside a separate children’s A Minecraft Movie Happy Meal. McDonald’s described the campaign as a meeting of the two fan communities, with physical collectibles and digital content connecting the brands (global campaign announcement).
The “adult Happy Meal” label is best understood as a cultural shorthand, not a formal product name or proof of why particular customers bought it. The available campaign coverage documents what McDonald’s offered, not a representative survey of buyers’ motivations.
What came in the McDonald’s Minecraft meal?
The U.S. adult meal, available at participating restaurants from April 1, 2025, while supplies lasted, included a choice of a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, a drink and one of six limited-edition figures. The nuggets option came with Nether Flame Sauce, a limited-edition sauce described as inspired by the Nether, with crushed red pepper, cayenne, garlic and sweetness. McDonald’s said customers could also add the sauce to another order (McDonald’s USA announcement).

Each adult-meal figure came with a matching card and a code for its corresponding Minecraft Marketplace skin. The figures mixed McDonald’s characters and menu references with Minecraft-style ideas:
- Big Mac Crystal
- Birdie Wings
- Fry Helmet
- Grimace Egg
- Soda Potion
- Zombie Hamburglar
How did the adult meal differ from the Happy Meal?
They were separate offers with different toys and digital rewards. The adult meal had one of six figures and a matching Minecraft skin code; the children’s Happy Meal had one of 12 film-inspired figurines or Block World toys and a scannable code for an online digital game. McDonald’s UK’s FAQ explicitly says the adult meal’s skin offer was not included with the Happy Meal (McDonald’s UK FAQ).

How did you get the Minecraft skin from McDonald’s?
The skin came with the code card for an adult-meal collectible. In the U.S., the official terms limited these skins to Minecraft: Bedrock Edition; Java Edition was excluded. Bedrock Edition had to be purchased separately. The same terms set December 31, 2025 as the redemption deadline, or an earlier end if supplies ran out (U.S. promotion terms).
The skin code was distinct from a separate app-linked Add-On promotion. McDonald’s’ U.S. terms described that campaign as running April 1 through June 12, 2025, while supplies lasted, with its own opt-in and redemption requirements. The launch announcement described the Add-On as an in-game pack featuring McDonaldland characters, builds and tools. An eligible app purchase was not simply another way to get the skin bundled with a figure; the two digital rewards had separate mechanics and deadlines (U.S. promotion terms).

Why did the promotion hit differently for adult fans?
Its appeal can be explained by the combination, rather than by any one item: a familiar fast-food order, a tangible collectible and a reward for a game with its own fan community. The figure provided something to keep, while the code connected the purchase to Minecraft itself. That design echoed the surprise-and-collect format associated with children’s meals, but pointed the collectible and game reward toward older fans as well.
That is an interpretation of the offer, not a measured finding about consumers. McDonald’s’ global chief marketing officer Morgan Flatley framed the collaboration as a first-time union of the game and restaurant in one universe, “built with the fan at the center” (McDonald’s global announcement). It captures the campaign’s intention, but does not establish that every buyer responded for the same reason.

How big was the campaign, and did the figures sell out?
McDonald’s called it the company’s “largest global campaign to date” and said it would launch in 100 markets. That is the company’s description of its own campaign, not an independently measured ranking (global campaign announcement).
The Associated Press reported on August 6, 2025 that McDonald’s said it had sold out of the collectible figures in less than two weeks. That is a company-reported result during the promotion; it does not establish what is available now, whether a resale listing is genuine, or what a collectible should cost (Associated Press report). McDonald’s’ global announcement said “100 markets”; AP later described the campaign as offered in “100 countries.” Those descriptions should not be treated as interchangeable.

Can you still buy the meal or redeem its code?
No. The U.S. launch began April 1, 2025, and participating restaurants offered the meal only while supplies lasted. The official skin-code deadline was December 31, 2025; the separate app Add-On campaign ended June 12, 2025. All those dates have passed as of October 4, 2026. Current resale availability, prices and code validity have not been established here. A collectible listing may not include a working digital code.
These dates and menu details are for the U.S. promotion. Other countries could have different launch details or local terms; for example, the UK FAQ also listed December 31, 2025 as its redemption deadline, but that does not make U.S. terms universal.
