The reported Anbernic RG DDS has not been verified by an official Anbernic announcement or product page in the available sources. Details circulating on October 9, 2026—including a Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 and two displays—come from community posts, so they should be treated as unconfirmed. Anbernic does make other dual-screen handhelds, but neither their specifications nor their emulation performance establish what the RG DDS would be.
What is actually known about the RG DDS?
A Reddit post dated October 9, 2026, circulated purported RG DDS specifications, including a Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 and two displays. That post documents a community claim, not an Anbernic announcement. The available official Anbernic pages document the separate RG DS and RG DS Plus; they do not verify an RG DDS or establish its screen configuration, processor, software, price, release date, or availability. The community post is useful for understanding the rumor, not as confirmation of a product.

Earlier coverage also discussed rumored RG 2DS and RG 3DS devices, explicitly as rumors. That reporting does not verify the RG DDS or prove that the current claim continues an earlier project. Notebookcheck’s report covers that earlier rumor context.
How it compares with Anbernic’s confirmed dual-screen handhelds
The RG DS and RG DS Plus are real, separately documented products. Their published specifications provide context for Anbernic’s dual-screen designs, but they should not be used to fill in missing RG DDS details.

The RG DS manufacturer page describes its hardware, but those specifications are not independent performance measurements. Anbernic’s product page calls it “Android 14 power”; that is marketing language about the RG DS, not evidence about the RG DDS. The RG DS Plus announcement likewise supplies its listed display and hinge details, not a full specification sheet.
Would a dual-screen Anbernic play Nintendo 3DS cartridges?
No conclusion about cartridge compatibility follows from a handheld’s shape or two-screen layout. Nintendo Support says Nintendo 3DS game cards can be played only on a Nintendo 3DS family system, not on DS, DS Lite, DSi, or DSi XL hardware. Anbernic’s dual-screen design does not make it a Nintendo 3DS family system. See Nintendo’s game-card compatibility guidance.

Cartridge compatibility and emulation are separate questions. The cited community claim does not establish whether the RG DDS would support 3DS emulation, which software it would use, or how well games would run. A Snapdragon chip claim alone would not answer those questions.

What existing RG DS reports say about 3DS emulation
Some customer reviews on the official RG DS page describe mixed results in individual 3DS games. One reviewer reports Mario Kart 7 running at around half speed. These are individual accounts, not controlled tests, a representative benchmark, or a prediction for a different device. The RG DDS is not established as equivalent to the RG DS, so its rumored processor cannot be used to transfer those results. The reviews appear on Anbernic’s RG DS page.

What to look for before treating the rumor as a product announcement
- An official Anbernic RG DDS product page or news announcement that confirms the model name.
- Full specifications for both displays, including size, resolution, touch input, and whether any stereoscopic 3D effect is present.
- Confirmed processor, memory, storage, operating system, battery, and supported software.
- Explicit information about 3DS emulation and game compatibility; a dual-screen design is not proof of either.
- Release timing, price, and regional availability from an official listing, since the current community claim does not settle them.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
