Use Force Palm on each revealed pedestal to collect its Engraved Stone. Put all three stones into the slots in the northwest wall to open the way to the Abyss Cresset and an Abyss Artifact.
Where to find the Ancient Rift Maze
The Ancient Rift is on the northern edge of Hernand, near the Pailune boundary and north of Sage’s Peak. Guides differ on whether to label the location Hernand or Pailune, so use those landmarks rather than relying on a region label alone. GameSpot’s ruins guide gives the northern Hernand and Sage’s Peak directions; VULKK’s walkthrough labels it Pailune.

How to solve each pillar gate
Each of the three mechanisms has pillars with orange growth or crystals. Use Blinding Flash’s Focus Light—also called Concentrated Light—to strike the specified pillar. The horizontal cuts at the tops of the pillars align when the mechanism is solved, opening its gate. At the pedestal beyond each gate, use Force Palm to collect one Engraved Stone.
- Three pillars: Focus Light the leftmost pillar once. Use Force Palm on the pedestal and take the first Engraved Stone.
- Four pillars: Focus Light the third pillar from the left once. Use Force Palm on the pedestal and take the second Engraved Stone.
- Six pillars: Focus Light the leftmost pillar twice, then the rightmost pillar twice. Use Force Palm on the pedestal and take the final Engraved Stone.

What to do if a mechanism is out of alignment
If you mis-solve a mechanism, teleport to the nearby Abyss Nexus to reset it, then repeat that pillar group’s sequence. Resetting is a recovery option; it is not required when the pillars are aligned correctly.
How to claim the maze reward
After collecting all three Engraved Stones, go to the wall on the northwest side of the Rift and insert the stones into its slots. The wall lowers, revealing the Abyss Cresset and an Abyss Artifact. The Cresset also serves as a fast-travel point, according to GameSpot’s guide.

Optional nearby cave detour
Ancient’s Heart Cave is bonus exploration, not part of the maze solution. GameSpot says it is behind a waterfall and can be entered with the Stab ability; a chest there contains Vaporwalker unique boots and a Refined Palmar Pill. You do not need to enter the cave to open the maze’s northwest wall.
