Super Mario Maker 3 has no confirmed features in the official material cited here. Nintendo’s published information documents Super Mario Maker 2, not a third game. Ideas such as new environments, selectable music, and secret exits are fan wishlist items—not an announcement or leak.
Is Super Mario Maker 3 announced, and are any features confirmed?
No. The Nintendo sources cited here establish Super Mario Maker 2 and its features, but do not announce Super Mario Maker 3 or confirm a feature list for it. Nintendo’s announced-title document offers context about its lineup; a title not appearing in that document is not, by itself, proof that no announcement exists. No release date, platform, or planned feature for a third game is established by these sources.

That makes any discussion of what might appear in a future game speculation. The ideas below are a fan wishlist and editorial suggestions, not reports of Nintendo’s plans.
What Super Mario Maker 2 already offers
Nintendo describes Super Mario Maker 2 for Nintendo Switch as a game for creating, playing, and sharing courses. It also includes Story Mode and multiplayer options. Its final free update added World Maker, a way to connect courses into a map-based mini-adventure.

- Free software updates to Super Mario Maker 2 have added new features like a World Maker mode letting players create their own world map. Also added are Link from the Legend of Zelda series as a playable character, new course parts, and more
“In World Maker mode, multiple courses created by a user can be tied together on a path from the starting point on a world map to the end castle.”
That is Nintendo’s description of World Maker in Super Mario Maker 2—not a statement about a sequel. Nintendo says players can combine up to eight worlds and up to 40 courses into a shareable mini Super Mario game. The update also added all seven Koopalings, Phanto, Mechakoopas, and course parts and power-ups including the SMB2 Mushroom, Frog Suit, Power Balloon, Super Acorn, Boomerang Flower, Cannon Box, and Propeller Box.
For online course sharing, course access, and online multiplayer in Super Mario Maker 2, Nintendo specifies a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership and internet access; availability varies by country. Those requirements apply to the current game and do not establish anything about a possible successor.

What fans would like to see in a future game
Community wish lists suggest several directions a hypothetical sequel could take. These are possibilities to discuss, not confirmed Super Mario Maker 3 features.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteMore control over music and decoration
Some fans have suggested selectable music and more decorative elements. More music choice could let creators better match a course’s mood, while additional decoration could help levels feel more distinct without changing how they play. Neither idea has been confirmed for a new game.
Environmental hazards and weather
Fans have also floated water, lava, quicksand, poison, and weather as possible additions. New environmental mechanics could broaden the kinds of challenges creators can build, but the wish-list examples do not establish that Nintendo is developing any of them.

- Save the Flower Kingdom from Bowser, Bowser Jr., and the Koopalings in the latest side-scrolling Super MarioTM adventure
- Choose from the largest cast of characters in a side-scrolling Mario game, including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, and other favorites
- Ease into the action with Assist Mode—your character can recover from falls and won’t take damage
- Use power-ups like the Super Flower Pot to transform into a flower and throw flowers, or the Elephant Fruit to spray water and trounce foes with your trunk
- Unlock and equip badges with various effects like swimming faster, recovering from falls, or getting extra air time
More themes and fewer ties between night and gimmicks
Additional themes are another fan suggestion. Some players would also like night mode to be selectable independently of its gameplay gimmicks, giving creators more freedom to choose a course’s look without necessarily adopting a special rule set. These are proposals, not announced settings.
Secret exits and richer world maps
Because Super Mario Maker 2 already lets creators link courses on a map, secret exits are a natural fan proposal for making a future world map more branching. They could give players alternate routes or optional destinations, but no official source here confirms that a sequel will add them.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHow to judge these wishlist ideas
Until Nintendo announces a game and its specifications, it is more useful to assess proposed features by what they would let players do than to treat any list as a forecast.
- Creator control: Would selectable music and richer decoration make it easier to give courses a distinct identity?
- Gameplay variety: Would new themes, hazards, or power-ups create meaningful challenges rather than just more options?
- World structure: Would secret exits and branching maps build on World Maker’s course-linking concept?
- Sharing and access: What online requirements would apply? Super Mario Maker 2’s membership requirement is specific to that game; it cannot be assumed for a future title.
What to play if you want to make courses now
Super Mario Maker 2 is the established option for creating, playing, and sharing Mario courses on Nintendo Switch. It is a released game, not a stand-in name for Super Mario Maker 3, and it should not be expected to include the speculative wishlist features above.
