Rovio said the remake had no ads or in-app purchases, but its current availability, price, and device compatibility can vary by region. Check your local App Store or Google Play listing before expecting to download it.
What is Rovio Classics: Angry Birds?
Rovio Classics: Angry Birds is a separate remake, not simply the original app under a new name. Rovio described it as a recreation of the game as it appeared in 2012, rebuilt for modern mobile devices. The 2022 launch announcement says it was rebuilt from the ground up in Unity. Rovio’s official game page describes the familiar slingshot gameplay, original-era chapters, levels, Easter eggs, and extras.
Rovio’s December 2021 development Q&A said the remake included all eight episodes that had been live by mid-2012. It also said progress could not be transferred from the original app. The remake therefore offers an early-era recreation, not a continuation of a player’s old save. Read Rovio’s development Q&A.
Does it have ads or in-app purchases?
Rovio said the remake was a premium purchase with no ads or in-app purchases. In its December 2021 Q&A, Angry Birds Brand Director Steve Porter said players would have to buy the remastered game and that it would not be free-to-play or include ads or in-app purchases. The March 2022 launch announcement also said the Mighty Eagle, which had been an in-app purchase in the older game, was included without an extra charge. Rovio’s launch announcement.

Is the original Angry Birds app still available?
Rovio said the original app was no longer available in app stores or supported. That is different from the remake: the remake is a new app, and Rovio said it could not import progress from the original.

Rovio Support notes that some older games may no longer be downloadable, while a person who downloaded a title previously may sometimes be able to reinstall it from an app-store cloud library. Availability is the key practical uncertainty. Rovio’s Q&A discussed iOS and Android as the mobile platforms in scope at the time, and its current game page still describes the game as a mobile title. Those sources do not establish whether the app is currently listed in every country, what it costs there, or whether a particular operating-system version or device is compatible.
