Fish guides also list sell prices, which can help you choose money-making targets without losing sight of museum collection goals.
How to use an ACNH fish list
- Choose your hemisphere. Northern and Southern Hemisphere lists have different seasonal calendars. Use the one that matches your island, not your real-world location.
- Select the current in-game month. A fish may be seasonal and absent outside its listed months.
- Check the time window. Availability can depend on time of day as well as month.
- Go to the listed water location. Nintendo’s fishing tips identify rivers, ponds, and the ocean as fishing locations: Play Nintendo fishing tips.
- Choose a goal. Scan sell prices if you are prioritizing income, or mark fish you have not donated if you are working toward collection completion.
Most full fish lists organize entries by hemisphere-specific availability, time, location, and selling price. Some also include shadow sizes, a useful additional clue when several fish share a location. Nintendo Life’s fish guide and GamesRadar’s fish list provide hemisphere, timing, location, and price information; ACNHMALL describes its catalog as covering all 80 fish and includes shadow sizes and monthly availability.
Where to fish
Start with the location named in the fish entry. The broad categories are rivers, ponds, and the ocean, as listed in Nintendo’s fishing tips. If a guide specifies a more particular site, follow that entry rather than treating all water as interchangeable.
How to use sell prices without derailing collection
Use the price column to compare targets when earning Bells is the priority. Treat it as the guide’s listed selling price, and do not assume that figures from different sources represent different transaction contexts unless the guide explicitly says so. For museum progress, track unrecorded catches separately: a high-value fish is not necessarily the one you still need.

- Build your community from scratch on a deserted island brimming with possibility; Create your personal getaway and customize your character, home, decorations, and even the landscape itself
- Collect materials to construct everything from furniture to tools. Then, use what you create to give your island a personal touch
- Watch as the time of day and seasons match real life—even your hemisphere. Each day holds potential for surprises and discoveries
- Get to know the island residents, garden, fish, decorate, hunt for fossils, and more.
- Show off your paradise – play on the same system with a total of 4 people, or play together online or over local wireless for fun with up to 8 players
A practical monthly checklist
- Set the list to your island’s hemisphere and the current in-game month.
- Narrow the entries by location before heading to the water.
- Check the active time window so you do not mistake a time-limited fish for an unavailable one.
- Use shadow size if the list supplies it and you need another way to distinguish targets.
- Mark new catches and revisit seasonal entries as the in-game year changes.
If a fish does not appear, check the hemisphere, month, time, and location filters before concluding it is missing. A list is a lookup aid, not a guarantee that every listed fish is currently available on your island.

For a quick lookup, use a list that makes hemisphere, month, time, location, and price easy to scan; shadow size is helpful but not universal. If you prefer a book, Future Press labels its Animal Crossing: New Horizons Official Companion Guide PDF an official companion guide and identifies it as an Autumn 2021 update. A printed guide is optional; the fish list fields are what matter for catching fish.
