She may brush you off at first; keep speaking to her. Once she becomes familiar with you, she gives fabric pattern sets that you can use when customizing compatible furniture.
How to get Sable’s patterns
- Unlock the Able Sisters shop. Sable is inside, working at the sewing machine.
- Speak to Sable whenever you visit. She may initially seem shy or dismiss you, but continue talking to her on later visits. Sources support persistence over several days, but do not establish a guaranteed number of days or a rule that missed days reset progress.
- Accept her pattern gifts. After she warms up to you, she begins giving you special fabric pattern sets. They are not clothing designs or ordinary items to equip.
Where to find and use the patterns
Use the patterns through furniture customization, rather than looking for them in your clothing inventory. At a DIY workbench, select “Customize something”, choose a compatible item, then select its fabric or pattern option. Not every customizable item accepts a fabric pattern: some offer only color changes, and others cannot be customized.
How Sable’s patterns differ from other designs
Sable’s gifts are fabric patterns for compatible furniture and the NookPhone case. They are separate from custom designs that players create, scan, or download. The Able Sisters design kiosk and QR-code workflows serve those custom-design features; befriending Sable is not required to use QR codes.
Nintendo also describes an online Custom Designs Portal on its official island, Ninten. Online features require a Nintendo Switch Online membership. These tools and Sable’s gifts have different uses:
