Check the beach the next day to collect Star Fragments. Celeste is a useful clue to watch for stars, but her visit does not guarantee a meteor shower.
How to wish on a shooting star
- Wait for a clear night. Nintendo Support says shooting stars are visible only when the sky is clear; meteor showers and other island events do not follow a predictable fixed schedule. Nintendo Support
- Make sure your character is not holding an item. If an item is equipped, pressing A may use it instead of making a wish. Nintendo’s guidance is to keep your hands empty. Nintendo UK
- Use the right stick to tilt the camera upward, then press A as the star appears. Play Nintendo and Nintendo UK give these controls for wishing on a shooting star. Play Nintendo
Keep watching the sky if you want to make more wishes. A shooting star is easy to miss while looking around the island, so the upward camera angle helps you spot it.
Does Celeste mean a meteor shower is coming?
Celeste is a good sign that stars may appear, and talking to her can provide a DIY recipe. But her presence is not a promise of a meteor shower: Nintendo describes island events as unpredictable rather than tied to a fixed schedule. Watch the sky, but do not assume that Celeste’s visit guarantees a shower or a particular number of stars.
Where to find Star Fragments
After making wishes, return to the beach the following day and look along the shore for Star Fragments. Pick up the fragments that have washed up. If you are hoping to gather more, check the beach again later; fragments may appear over time. Nintendo Life

What Star Fragments are for
Star Fragments are crafting materials for special DIY projects. One example is the Star Wand, which is crafted and lets you switch between saved outfits. You do not need a separate accessory or tool to make a wish—just use the game’s standard controls.
