Animal Shelter 2 is already available: it launched on Steam on July 23, 2025, with online co-op for up to six players. Since then, the game has received a July 2026 Anniversary Update and two animal packs.
When did Animal Shelter 2 release?
Animal Shelter 2 released on Steam on July 23, 2025. It was developed by Games Incubator and published by Games Incubator and PlayWay S.A. The Steam store lists it as an adventure, casual, indie, and simulation game. The Animal Shelter 2 Team’s launch announcement, also dated July 23, 2025, confirmed that the game was out now.
How does co-op work?
The Steam listing describes online co-op for up to six players. Friends can work together to care for animals and manage the shelter, with the shared goal of helping animals find homes. The store does not establish cross-platform play, so do not assume that players on different platforms can join the same session.
The July 2026 Anniversary Update expanded multiplayer adoptions so every player can adopt an animal, according to the developer’s update recap.

What has been added since launch?
Anniversary Update and lost-pet features
Released July 20, 2026, the Anniversary Update added a Notice Board for reports of lost pets and a Chip Scanner to help identify them. The developer also describes using an animal’s reactions and appearance to help reunite it with its owner. These are the developer’s descriptions of the features, not an independent assessment of how reliably the matching works.
New animal packs
Two packs became available on July 20, 2026: Bull-Type Terriers Dogs Pack and Fluffy Cats Pack. The developer’s announcement says each pack adds four breeds. They are downloadable content, separate from the base game.

Multiplayer fix
Patch 1.4.4 addressed a client crash in multiplayer that could occur while one player was taking a pet out of the van. The patch announcement identifies the specific fix.
