To awaken a weapon in Anime Zero, use the Evolution NPC, choose the weapon, and satisfy the requirements shown in its menu. The game’s community guides call this process “evolution”; it unlocks that weapon’s ultimate skill, reported as the fourth skill on the G key. Requirements differ by weapon, so check the in-game list before farming.
How to awaken a weapon
- Choose the weapon you want to keep using. Requirements are specific to each weapon, so decide before farming materials.
- Open Areas and find the Evolution NPC. Select the weapon in the NPC menu to see its requirements. See the Anime Zero Beginner Guide for the reported route through Areas.
- Check the listed materials and quantities. Use the selected weapon’s in-game requirements as your checklist; public guides do not document a complete, verified recipe list.
- Use the queue screen’s material preview to identify runs or modes associated with the materials you need. A community guide reports material pity after five consecutive runs without a drop; treat that as a guide-reported mechanic and confirm the current display in-game.
- Return to the Evolution NPC and complete the evolution. The weapon’s ultimate is then reported to be available on G.
The route and unlock effect are described in the community evolution guide. Game updates may change recipes or drops.

What evolution unlocks
Evolution is the reported step for unlocking a weapon’s ultimate, which community guides identify as the fourth skill bound to G. The guides do not establish that every weapon follows identical steps beyond selecting it at the Evolution NPC and meeting its displayed requirements.
Reported weapon material examples
These examples come from community documentation and are not a complete or officially verified recipe list. Use the selected weapon’s live in-game requirement list for exact materials and counts.

| Weapon or character | Materials reported by the guide | What remains uncertain |
|---|---|---|
| Hu Tao / Flame Director | Staff of Homa and Ghost | A community guide attributes these materials to an official Spirited Away patch, but the patch itself was not independently verified there. |
| Sung Jinwoo / Shadow Monarch | A three-stage path involving Shadow Gate materials, including shadow essence, Igris’ crest, shadow’s cloak, and monarch’s blessing | The guide does not give exact material counts for each stage. |
| Sukuna | Sukuna Fingers; gameplay footage is also said to mention eyes | The full recipe is uncertain. |
| Lyth | Four Soul Fragments, according to gameplay footage cited by the guide | The guide does not establish a full recipe beyond this reported requirement. |
These reports are from the material sections of the Anime Zero Evolution Guide. It also notes that full material locations are not documented for every weapon.
Which weapon should you evolve first?
There is no well-supported universal best choice. Start with the weapon you intend to use, then compare its displayed requirements with the materials available through the queue preview. Available documentation does not support ranking every weapon or claiming one is always the most efficient to awaken.

Does awakening unlock raid access?
Do not assume evolution is required for every raid. A community guide describes evolution as optional before a raid and says entry requirements depend on the current game. Check the raid’s current in-game requirements rather than treating awakening as a universal prerequisite; see Anime Zero Info’s guide index.
Why online recipes may differ
No formal developer evolution document was identified in the available community coverage. Some recipe details rely on gameplay footage or community reports, and exact counts or drop locations may be missing. Since game updates can change recipes and drops, the Evolution NPC’s requirements and the queue’s material preview are the most useful checks before committing to a farm. The Anime Zero Codes Wiki evolution guide also describes the process as a route to unlocking ultimates.
