Annapurna Interactive’s new game is Uncanyon, a puzzle-first adventure from developer Graceful Decay planned for 2027. Its central idea—shifting a strange landscape between alternate realities to solve puzzles and uncover routes—makes it feel unusually close to Annapurna’s stated interest in personal, creator-led experiences. Calling it the publisher’s “most Annapurna” game is an opinion, though, not an objective ranking.

Studio head and game director Hanford Lemoore called it “a puzzle-forward adventure for the curious, full of exploration, secrets… and heart.” That description is a useful guide to the pitch: this is presented as an exploratory puzzle game, not primarily as an action game or a conventional narrative adventure.
How does Uncanyon’s reality-shifting mechanic work?
Sonia uses devices called fragmentstones to shift the environment between alternate realities without leaving the world she is exploring. According to the announcement, those changes can alter puzzles, move stone and shadow, banish dangers, or expose hidden routes. The mechanic suggests a world where observation and experimenting with the landscape are as important as finding a key or solving a fixed riddle.

Lemoore said the idea began with the question: “What if you could enter an alternate reality without leaving the one you’re already in?” The announcement also describes five semi-open regions, ruins filled with puzzles, traps and riddles, records and ancient equipment to collect, and optional mysteries. These are publisher-announced features, not details confirmed through hands-on play.
Why does it feel especially Annapurna?
Annapurna Interactive says it works with creators around the world to help them create and release personal experiences. Its current Steam publisher description says the company was established in 2016. Uncanyon appears to fit that identity through its distinctive central idea and its emphasis on curiosity, exploration, and a world whose rules are part of the puzzle.
That is the case for the headline, not proof of a catalog-wide superlative. The announcement does not compare Uncanyon with other Annapurna games, and there is no objective measure for which title is “most Annapurna.” The phrase works as a playful reading of the game’s announced concept: a personal, unusual premise expressed through the way its world behaves.

Uncanyon is planned for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The announcement gives no exact launch date. Release timing and platform plans may change.
