It offered the base game—not the Prophecies of Ash DLC—on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Ubisoft Store, Steam and Epic Games Store. Ubisoft said progress would carry over if players bought the game during or after the event. No later free weekend is established by the announcements cited here.
When was Anno 117 free to play?
Ubisoft announced the April event on April 20, 2026. Its free weekend ran April 23–27. Xbox listed a separate Free Play Days window for eligible Game Pass members, April 23–26, so the Xbox promotion ended a day earlier than Ubisoft’s event. Both offers have expired.

What did the April free weekend include?
Ubisoft said players could access the whole base game, excluding the Prophecies of Ash DLC. The DLC was scheduled for release on April 30, 2026, after the free weekend. Ubisoft also said progress would carry over if players purchased the game during or after the event.

The April Ubisoft offer listed PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Ubisoft Store, Steam and Epic Games Store. Xbox’s Free Play Days offer was a separate Xbox promotion for eligible Game Pass members; its dates and eligibility should not be confused with Ubisoft’s wider event.
What kind of game is Anno 117?
Anno 117: Pax Romana is a Roman-era city-building strategy game. Ubisoft describes players as newly appointed governors developing territories in Latium and Albion. The game’s systems include production chains, trade, research, religious choices and monuments, with decisions about diplomacy or military power and how to balance local culture against the Emperor’s demands. This is a premise overview, not a hands-on assessment.

- BUILD TRADE EXPAND — Design thriving Roman cities, run production chains, and balance citizen needs with the relentless demands of the emperor.
- TWO PROVINCES TO GOVERN — Develop Latium’s Roman heartland and brave Albion’s Celtic wetlands, each offering distinct geography, culture, and challenges.
- DISCOVERY TREE PROGRESSION — Unlock new technologies to boost production efficiency, scale settlements, and deepen strategic options as your authority grows.
- DIPLOMACY AND WARFARE — Build alliances, navigate political intrigue, and command land battles and naval combat to protect your provinces and trade.
- CHOICES SHAPE YOUR RULE — Choose whether to honor Celtic culture or enforce Roman traditions, and select island deities for powerful gameplay bonuses.
How can you play it now?
The past free-weekend announcements do not establish a current free offer. For current purchase or subscription availability, check the relevant official store or service listing, since catalogs and editions can change. Ubisoft’s February announcement listed Ubisoft+ and PC storefronts, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Amazon Luna as routes at that time; that announcement alone does not confirm present-day catalog availability.
If you are looking for a physical copy, Ubisoft describes a PS5 Governor’s Edition that includes a disc and physical collectibles, and names Amazon among participating retailers. Its release materials do not establish current stock, price, shipping or regional availability, so check the retailer directly.

What Ubisoft has reported about the game
In an April 22, 2026 milestone announcement, Ubisoft reported that Anno 117 had reached 1.17 million players since its November 2025 launch. That is the publisher’s player-count figure; it is not a reported sales total or an independently audited count.
