Antiquia Lost is a single-player, turn-based fantasy RPG built around a familiar journey story, with a few distinctive systems—most notably its slime-like heroine’s gem-based growth and monster-skill mimicry. Its reception is sharply divided rather than settled: the small set of critic reviews listed for Switch ranges from 10 to 90, while store ratings are positive but come from separate, limited platform samples. It is best suited to players who enjoy traditional RPG structure and are curious about its character-specific exploration and side systems.

What kind of RPG is Antiquia Lost?

Developed by Exe Create Inc. and published by KEMCO, Antiquia Lost follows Bine, a young man from a rural village, and Lunaria, a slime-like girl, on a journey toward the royal capital amid disappearances and questions about the world’s past. KEMCO describes it as “An authentic RPG of a journey with a girl made of slime!”—publisher wording, rather than an independent review judgment. The Windows version launched on Steam on July 6, 2017.

Combat is turn-based, presented in 2D. Lunaria consumes gems to improve her stats and learn skills, and can mimic powerful monster attacks. Those mechanics give her progression a more unusual hook than the conventional fantasy premise alone. The official feature descriptions also list character-dependent exploration actions, such as smashing rocks or squeezing through narrow gaps, alongside seed planting and harvesting, weapon development and refining, quests, and arenas. These features broaden the menu of activities, though their presence on a feature list does not by itself show how engaging or essential they feel during play.

What do the reviews say?

The critic reviews listed on Metacritic’s Nintendo Switch page disagree substantially. Cubed3 awarded 90/100 on April 22, 2020, while Switch Player gave 70/100 on December 4, 2017, and Digitally Downloaded gave 10/100 on November 27, 2017. Three scores are too few—and too far apart—to describe as a consensus or a reliable measure of every player’s experience.

#1 Best Overall
Tales of Berseria: REMASTERED - Nintendo Switch
  • A Tale of Emotion Versus Reason - Follow the journey of Velvet as she embarks on a journey of vengeance towards the murderers of her brother, torn between the person she was and the path her rage has set before her. Can she hold onto who she was, or will vengeance consume all that remains?
  • Exhilarating Battle System - Customize your skills to create unique playstyles and defeat your foes by unleashing a flurry of attacks. Engage in exhilarating battles by stealing “Souls” from your enemies to empower your combos.
  • A Modern, High-Quality Retelling - Play with new quality-of-life updates, including destination icons, the ability to toggle encounters, early grade shop access, and more.
  • An All-Around Experience - Enjoy the immersion with the DLC*, which was launched alongside the original release, including costumes, useful items, and other fun extras.
  • The positive case: Cubed3 emphasized story, quests, difficulty options, and replay value.
  • The middle-ground view: Switch Player found the game familiar, while allowing that its story may appeal.
  • The negative case: Digitally Downloaded rejected the appeal of its nostalgia-oriented approach.

In other words, whether the familiar structure is comforting or stale appears central to the split. A player drawn to traditional RPG conventions may value the story and supporting activities; someone looking for a more novel or compelling take on the genre may be less persuaded. These are the outlets’ judgments, not claims that every player will react the same way.

How players rated it on storefronts

Store ratings offer a more favorable snapshot, but they should be read separately from the critic scores and from one another. When accessed in 2026, Steam showed 86% positive sentiment from 22 user reviews; the PlayStation Store showed 4.39 stars from 293 ratings. These are platform-specific samples using different rating systems, not a combined score or a representative survey. Both counts and ratings can change.

Which version should you consider?

Official listings establish versions for Windows on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation. The sources confirm platform options, but do not establish meaningful content or performance differences between editions, so the practical choice is mainly about where and how you prefer to play.

Platform What the listing establishes Useful consideration
Windows / Steam Steam lists English and Japanese interfaces and subtitles, controller support, and Windows system requirements. Check the requirements on the Steam listing for your PC and choose keyboard or controller play to suit your setup.
Nintendo Switch Nintendo lists TV, tabletop, and handheld modes. Consider it if switching between a television and portable play matters to you.
PlayStation The PlayStation Store describes the game as playable on PS4 and PS5 and mentions a PS Vita license in its store details. KEMCO announced the PS5 release for August 9, 2024, with Cross-Buy support. Check the current PlayStation Store listing for your region and account before purchase, particularly if you are relying on Cross-Buy or a specific console license.

For current availability and price, confirm the listing in your region; storefront details can change. The official sources reviewed here do not establish an Android or iOS version’s current availability, and no physical Switch edition was verified.

Is Antiquia Lost worth playing?

It is a reasonable candidate for players who want a self-contained, single-player turn-based RPG, enjoy a traditional fantasy journey, and find Lunaria’s gem growth and monster mimicry appealing. Its additional activities may add variety, but the cited critic reactions suggest that the familiar presentation is a dividing line rather than a universal strength. If you are unsure, weigh those preferences more heavily than any single score: the critic sample is sharply split, and store ratings describe different platform audiences.
