Apex Legends: Takeover was Season 24, running from February 11 to May 5, 2025. Its headline changes were Arsenals for more dependable access to weapons and ammo, two limited-time modes with distinct mechanics, and a faster, more aggressive balance direction. EA’s patch notes also specifically labeled account-level progression details and additional anti-cheat hardening as quality-of-life updates.
What were Arsenals in Takeover?
Arsenals were fixed stations placed at points of interest across every map. Players could use them to access weapons, the matching ammo, and weapon enhancement. The stations’ locations stayed fixed, while the ammo type available from them changed randomly each match.
That design offered an alternative to relying entirely on random ground loot: players had a more predictable route to a weapon they wanted, although the available ammo type still varied. EA described the feature as providing “easy and deterministic access to weapons and ammo of their choice” in its February 10, 2025 patch notes.
Which new modes and rotations did Season 24 announce?
The two headline modes were temporary events, not permanent additions. Their event windows and defining mechanics were different:

The three experimental R-301 variants each had a different effect. Hornet emphasized faster movement and reloads. Limelight replenished squad health and shields through damage. Vermilion increased critical-hit damage and triggered Thermite on enemies who were knocked.
Redemption Trios & Duos
Redemption was a Creator Commissioner collaboration built around Respawn Tokens. The token occupied the Mythic-rarity Survival Slot and was exclusive to this limited-time mode.

Mixtape map rotations
EA also scheduled Mixtape rotations for Team Deathmatch, Control, and Gun Run from February 11 to March 24, 2025. That was a dated rotation schedule, not a statement about which maps or modes are available now.
What quality-of-life updates did Takeover identify?
In the patch notes’ section explicitly titled “QUALITY OF LIFE,” EA listed two items:

- Further hardening intended to prevent hipfire cheats.
- Account-level details about progression and rewards at future levels.
The wider patch notes also included bug fixes, but EA listed those separately rather than grouping them under that QoL heading.
How did Season 24 change combat balance?
EA presented Takeover as a push toward more aggressive combat. The announcement described weapon changes, armor and helmet updates, and reduced visual clutter alongside Arsenals. In later Season 28 design notes, EA retrospectively characterized Season 24’s time-to-kill change as the result of weapon buffs alongside helmet removal.

- Ultra Customizable Controls
- Mappable Back Buttons
- DualSense Wireless Controller Features Built In
- Replaceable Stick Modules and Caps
What else did EA announce for the anniversary season?
EA’s February 6, 2025 overview promoted Legend Spotlight Passes, including a 20-level pass with reward packs at levels 10 and 20, as well as optional in-game rewards. It also described Twitch Drops tied to connecting EA and Twitch accounts. Those were digital promotions, separate from the two limited-time modes.
Takeover is best read as a historical Season 24 announcement: EA’s season archive lists the season as running from February 11 through May 5, 2025. The event dates above have passed, and the cited announcement does not establish what is currently live in Apex Legends.
