What was Apex Legends Update 2.59?
Update 2.59 is the console-facing version label used for the June 25, 2024 Double Take update. MP1st identified the release as Update 2.59; EA’s June 20 event announcement and patch notes are the source for the changes below.

The year matters: EA also published a different Apex Legends update on June 25, 2025, during the Future Icons Event. That later update is not Update 2.59 or the Double Take patch. EA’s 2025 announcement identifies it as a separate release.
Double Take event and Quads Takeover
Double Take was the season’s first Collection Event, scheduled for June 25–July 9, 2024. Its limited-time Quads Takeover put four players on each squad, facing 14 other squads. EA adjusted the loot pool to reduce competition for ammo, attachments, and regeneration items, and updated Evac Towers, Valkyrie’s Ultimate, Skyward Dive, and other Legend abilities to accommodate a fourth squad member.

EA described the mode this way: “This all new 4-Legend squad takeover is the best kind of chaos, amped up with new strats and team comps.”
Cosmetics, rewards, and event dates
The event offered 24 limited-time cosmetics. Players could unlock items individually or through event packs. The collection included Legendary skins for Octane, Crypto, Fuse, Conduit, Revenant, and Alter, as well as a Havoc skin. Unlocking all 24 items before the event ended awarded Lifeline’s “Apex Corruptor” Prestige set and the “RidDOCulous” finisher.

Weapon and loot changes
EA’s patch notes include the following weapon, optic, and loot adjustments:
- Care Package: Added a Purple Light Mag.
- Gold weapon rotation: Nemesis Burst AR, Triple-Take, Peacekeeper, Prowler PDW, and Longbow DMR.
- G7 Scout: Damage increased from 32 to 33; rate of fire increased, and recoil at maximum rate of fire was adjusted.
- Havoc: Magazine capacity reduced from 24/28/32/36 to 20/24/28/32 for no magazine, white, blue, and purple magazines, respectively.
- Longbow DMR: Headshot multiplier increased from 2.15 to 2.25.
- R-99: Hip-fire randomness reduced.
- Rampage: Reduced vertical movement in the ADS firing animation.
- Optics: Peacekeeper and Charge Rifle/Sentinel weapon-rarity optic sets were changed. The 4x–10x Digital Threat no longer provided threat vision through smoke or gas.
Legend changes
- Alter: Crypto’s EMP affected all players phased by Alter’s Void Passage.
- Bangalore: Players inside her smoke received a white highlight visible to other players inside the smoke within 20 meters. Players outside the smoke could not see the highlight.
- Bloodhound: Beast of the Hunt no longer provided threat vision through smoke or gas. Raven’s Blessing Ultimate charge was reduced from 25% to 20%, and two Level 3 upgrade choices were added.
- Pathfinder: Down & Away refreshed his Tactical after knocks and assisted knocks within a three-second window.

Ranked, end rings, and Mixtape
End-ring distribution was made more even, with each map quadrant given roughly a 25% chance of selection. At the end of the season, Ranked Rumble replaced the regular Ranked League. EA also listed lower entry costs above Bronze and adjustments to placement and Kill Point scoring, including points for 15th- and 14th-place finishes.
Mixtape matches were changed to ten minutes in every mode except Control. Spawn logic was also adjusted in Gun Run, Lockdown, and Team Deathmatch.

Bug fixes, graphics stability, and quality of life
The patch addressed several gameplay and interface issues, including the 3030-Repeater reticle, late-arriving Evo Harvester icons, Firing Range dynamic stats, movement exploits, Mythic Melee death-recap names, Nessie physics, and shots passing through cover.
Graphics and stability fixes included several DX12 crash fixes on PC, an Xbox One flickering-effects issue, and stuttering with high-polling-rate mice. Quality-of-life additions included a spectator gameplay-volume setting and controller options for the Health Wheel. The official post presents developer commentary as unattributed “Dev Note” text; it does not attribute the notes to a named developer.
