Capcom warns that a PC below the minimum requirements may perform poorly or may not run the game. Meeting them does not guarantee that a crash will not occur.

Capcom’s Troubleshooting for Steam games, updated July 22, 2026, is general guidance rather than a game-specific crash fix. Use these as checks; a step is not guaranteed to resolve every cause.

- Check security software and firewall restrictions. Capcom says security software can falsely identify a game executable and prevent it from launching. Check whether the game or Steam is being blocked, and follow your security software maker’s instructions for exclusions.
- Update Windows and your graphics driver. Install available updates, then restart the PC after a graphics-driver installation so Windows can reinitialize the driver and GPU.
- Choose the appropriate GPU. If your PC or laptop has both integrated and dedicated graphics, check which one is assigned to the game. Capcom describes setting it to “High Performance” in Windows graphics settings; exact steps vary by system.
- Verify the game files in Steam. Steam’s file verification can identify missing or damaged files and reacquire problematic ones. In your Steam Library, open the game’s properties and use the installed-files verification option; labels may vary with the Steam client version.
- Close overlays and demanding background apps. Temporarily exit recording software, performance overlays, and other resource-heavy applications while testing for stability.
Use targeted checks for the kind of failure you see
If the game will not launch
- Check security software or firewall restrictions and verify the Steam files.
- If you have enabled Windows Compatibility Mode for the game, try disabling it.
- Check display settings if the crash occurs as the game opens or changes display modes.
If the crash happens during play or a cutscene
- Note the scene or activity where it occurs and whether repeating the same steps causes the crash again.
- Capcom mentions clearing the game’s shader cache files if present. Do not remove unrelated files.
- For cutscene playback problems, Capcom recommends checking codecs, including the Media Feature Pack on Windows N and KN editions.
- If the PC may be overheating or power-limited, check ventilation and power settings.
These distinctions help describe the problem; they do not establish a particular cause. Capcom asks players to report where and when an issue happens and whether it reproduces consistently.

- What you were doing when it crashed, plus steps to reproduce it if the problem is consistent.
- The crash-report ZIP files, if available. Capcom says a
CrashReportfolder is created in the game’s installation directory by default.
No official crash-rate figures or success rates for these steps are established in the reviewed sources. A player post titled “Crashes every time I try to open it” is anecdotal and does not show that the issue is widespread or that one workaround is verified.
