arabic.dll is not a universal Windows system file. The arabic.dll error usually means that a particular application lost its language or resource file.
Start with this diagnostic checklist
Before downloading or copying anything, record:
- Which program fails: Read the application name and full path in the error dialog.
- When it fails: At Windows startup, when opening a shortcut, or only after opening a specific program.
- The exact path: Check whether the message points to an application folder,
System32, or another location. - Recent changes: Note any update, reinstall, disk cleanup, antivirus alert, or application move.
- Windows architecture: Open Settings > System > About and check System type.
- Application architecture: Use the vendor’s 32-bit or 64-bit build that matches the installed program.
Do not assume that a file named arabic.dll from one application will work in another.

What arabic.dll belongs to
The filename is reused by unrelated applications as a localized language or resource DLL. Verified examples include:
- IrfanView: Its Arabic language package is installed in the program’s
Languagesfolder. The official language page lists an Arabic package under an older version group and states that it is mostly compatible with newer releases, so compatibility with every current build is not guaranteed. - IsoBuster: Its Arabic translation is an
Arabic.dllplug-in placed in the application’slangfolder. The vendor marks the Arabic 3.1 translation as discontinued. - Roland VersaWorks: An independent installed-file inventory identifies an
Arabic.dllin the VersaWorks program folder. Roland has documented Arabic support in VersaWorks, but its current site does not provide complete DLL metadata.
Other applications may use the same basename. The error alone cannot identify the owner.

There is no verified evidence that arabic.dll is a standard Windows component stored in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the application
This is the safest and most likely fix.
Identify the owning application
- Read the complete error message.
- If it shows a path, note the folder immediately above
arabic.dll. - Open File Explorer and search the application’s installation folders for
arabic.dll. - Right-click the failing shortcut and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, check Target. The executable named there is the program that needs repair.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps on Windows 11, or Settings > Apps > Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Locate that application and check whether Modify, Repair, or Advanced options is available.
If the error comes from an old shortcut, startup entry, scheduled task, or service for software you already removed, remove the obsolete entry instead of supplying a DLL.
Repair or reinstall it
- Close the affected program.
- In Installed apps, select the application.
- Choose Advanced options > Repair when available.
- Start the program again.
- If the error remains, uninstall the application.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the installer only from the application developer’s official site or use the original verified installer.
- Install the same product family and the correct 32-bit or 64-bit build.
- Start the application and check whether the error has disappeared.
The repair worked if the program opens without the arabic.dll message and its language or interface options work normally.

For IrfanView, use the official Arabic language installer or ZIP package. Follow the vendor’s instructions to extract the package into:
IrfanViewLanguages
Then open IrfanView and choose Properties > Language. The Arabic package is listed for an older IrfanView version range, so install the current IrfanView application first and treat the language package’s compatibility statement as a limitation.
For IsoBuster, obtain the translation from the vendor’s official translations page and place the language DLL in the lang folder under the directory containing isobuster.exe. Then select it through Options > Language. Because Arabic 3.1 is marked discontinued, reinstalling IsoBuster does not guarantee that this old translation will work with every release.
Do not copy an IrfanView language DLL into IsoBuster, VersaWorks, or another application.

A language DLL can disappear after antivirus software removes or quarantines it.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review entries from the time the application stopped working.
- Expand an entry and confirm the detected file path.
- Restore the file only if it came from a verified vendor installer or official language package.
- Reinstall the parent application if the file’s origin is uncertain.
- Start the application again.
Do not restore an arbitrary DLL simply because its name matches the error. An old report involving an IrfanView Arabic.dll described a false positive, but that does not validate copies obtained from unrelated sources today.

If Windows Security repeatedly removes a file from an official package, update Windows Security, run a fresh scan, and contact the application vendor before creating an exclusion.
Fix 3: Match the application, version, and architecture
A matching basename is not enough. The DLL must belong to the correct product and release.
Check these points:
- A 32-bit application normally needs its compatible 32-bit files, even on 64-bit Windows.
- A 64-bit application needs the files supplied for its 64-bit build.
- An older language plug-in may not support a newer application.
- A portable application may expect the DLL beside its executable or in a product-specific subfolder.
- A file copied from another computer may have different dependencies or packaging.
If the error names a full path, verify that arabic.dll exists in that exact folder. If it exists but the program still reports “specified module could not be found,” a dependency of arabic.dll may be missing. Reinstall the parent application rather than replacing the file from an unrelated source.
Fix 4: Do not copy it to System32 or use regsvr32
Do not place arabic.dll in either of these folders:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
Those folders are not general-purpose storage for application DLLs. Windows uses redirected system paths for some 32-bit processes, but that does not make third-party DLL copying safe or correct.
Do not run:
regsvr32 arabic.dll
A language or resource DLL normally does not expose the COM registration routine required by regsvr32. Registration errors will not repair a missing application language file. Use regsvr32 only when the software vendor explicitly identifies the DLL as a COM server and supplies the registration command.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFix 5: Install a runtime only when the error identifies one
Do not install Visual C++ merely because the missing filename ends in .dll.
A Visual C++ Redistributable repair is relevant when the error also names a runtime dependency such as:
MSVCPVCRUNTIMEapi-ms-win-crt-*
Use Microsoft’s official Visual C++ Redistributable package and choose the architecture required by the application. If the only missing name is arabic.dll, reinstall the owning application first.

Windows Features are also usually irrelevant. Enabling items such as .NET Framework or legacy components will not normally recreate an application-owned language DLL unless the application’s own documentation specifically requires that feature.

Fix 6: Repair Windows components only for broader Windows damage
SFC and DISM repair Windows components. They do not normally recreate an application-owned arabic.dll.
Use them when multiple Windows features are failing, system files are damaged, or other applications show unrelated Windows corruption.
- Open Start and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application.
If the commands report repairs but arabic.dll is still missing, return to the application installer. The definitive fix remains restoring the file from that program’s official package.
Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can waste time while leaving the application untouched. Outbyte PC Repair can show what its scan finds, but the repair requires the full version, and reinstalling the affected application remains the definitive fix when the DLL belongs to that program.
Fix 7: Check Windows Update or System Restore
Windows Update is relevant when the problem began alongside wider system failures.
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the application again.
System Restore is more appropriate when the error began immediately after a software, driver, or system change and a suitable restore point exists.
- Press Win + R.
- Type:
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point created before the failure.
- Review the affected programs.
- Select Next > Finish.
- Sign in and test the application after Windows restarts.
System Restore does not replace a vendor’s application installer and may not restore a discontinued language plug-in.
Fix 8: Update a related driver only when the application depends on it
Driver repair is not a general solution for arabic.dll. Consider it only when the failing program is tied to a specific hardware package, printer, graphics device, or vendor application and the error began after a driver change.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Display adapters, Printers, or Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click the device and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab and record the provider and version.
- Select Update Driver > Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
- If the issue began immediately after an update, use Roll Back Driver when available.
- Otherwise, download the driver from the hardware manufacturer and install it.
Manually hunting through hardware models and driver versions can be time-consuming. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers, but its full-version install is optional and a driver update will not replace an application-owned arabic.dll.
Avoid random DLL downloads
Do not download a generic arabic.dll and copy it into the application folder or Windows directories. Random copies can contain malware, target the wrong product, use the wrong architecture, or fail because a dependency is missing.

FAQ
Is arabic.dll a Windows system file?
No verified evidence identifies it as a standard Windows DLL. The name is normally associated with an application’s localized resources.
Can I put arabic.dll in System32?
No. Put it only in the application folder documented by that product, and preferably restore it through the official installer.
Will Visual C++ fix the error?
Only when the error also identifies a Visual C++ runtime dependency. It will not normally recreate an application language DLL.
Recommended Free Tools
Should I register arabic.dll?
Usually not. Language and resource DLLs normally do not require COM registration.
How do I know which program owns it?
Use the full path in the error, inspect the failing shortcut’s target, and check the application folder containing the DLL. The filename alone is ambiguous.
Why does the file exist but Windows still say it is missing?
A dependency may be missing, the file may be incompatible with the application’s architecture, or the application may be searching a different folder. Reinstall the matching parent application and inspect the exact path before replacing anything.
