These ten beginner tips focus on learning the surface, managing risk, and choosing how to handle ARC machines and other Raiders. The game supports solo and squad play, and a meeting with another player can turn into a fight, an uneasy pass-by, or cooperation.
10 beginner tips for ARC Raiders
1. Make extraction part of the plan
A raid is not a success just because you found something valuable. You need to return safely with it. Before taking a detour or starting a risky fight, consider whether the possible reward is worth putting what you already carry at risk. Keep the route back in mind as you explore.
2. Learn one map before chasing every reward
The Guardian’s January 2026 beginner guide recommends starting out by exploring Dam Battlegrounds, learning enemy behavior, and searching buildings. Treat that as dated guidance, not a guarantee of the current map or progression order. Familiarity with an area helps you make more informed decisions about where to search and when to leave.
3. Gather resources with a purpose
Early resources can support crafting and progression. The Guardian recommends collecting them early and improving workstations, but there is little value in continuing to gather if you no longer have a safe, practical way to extract. Leave room for useful finds and allow time for the return trip.

4. Put blueprints in your safe pocket
The Guardian specifically recommends keeping blueprints in the safe pocket so they are retained if you die. When you find one, protect it rather than treating it like ordinary loot.
5. Don’t assume another Raider wants a fight
Other players may avoid you or cooperate rather than attack. The Guardian’s guide notes that quick phrases such as “don’t shoot!” can help communicate intent. Read the situation, use available communication when it makes sense, and do not mistake a friendly signal for a guarantee of safety.

6. Pick skills to fit your approach
The Guardian’s January 2026 guide discusses three directions: Mobility for stamina-focused movement, Conditioning for players expecting direct fights, and Survival for a stealthier looting-and-leaving style. It favors Mobility early, but that is conditional advice from that guide—not a universal build recommendation or a verified post-update meta. Choose according to how you want to approach raids.
7. Bring equipment for different problems
As a starting approach, the Guardian suggests carrying two guns with different roles, along with supplies such as bandages, shield rechargers, and adrenaline shots. Smoke grenades may help you escape a dangerous situation. You do not need to bring every item on every raid; choose a loadout that gives you options without making you overconfident about taking fights.

8. Listen for threats and communicate clearly
Sound can help you judge where danger is coming from. Voice or preset communication can also help you coordinate with teammates or signal your intentions to nearby players. A headset with a microphone is optional equipment that may help with listening and voice chat; it is not a requirement to play.
9. Change your decisions when you go solo or squad up
ARC Raiders supports both lone play and squads. The Guardian describes playing alone or with up to two friends. In a squad, coordinate movement and communication so teammates can act together. Alone, make choices that account for having no teammate to coordinate with. Neither format is established as universally easier or more rewarding.

10. Recheck advice after major updates
When Embark’s official site was accessed on October 4, 2026, it listed the Frozen Trail update for October 8, four days later. That makes specific claims about weapon rankings, map availability, skill priorities, and mechanics especially time-sensitive. Check current official information before relying on older advice for those details.

Choose a beginner approach by what you want from a raid
| Priority | Starting approach | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Explore and progress | Search buildings and gather useful resources; consider workstation improvements. | These are recommendations in The Guardian’s January 2026 guide. Keep extraction in view rather than collecting indefinitely. |
| Move and manage stamina | Consider Mobility. | The Guardian favored this early in January 2026; current balance after the listed Frozen Trail update is not established here. |
| Take direct fights | Consider Conditioning and carry equipment for more than one kind of threat. | This is conditional guidance from The Guardian’s January 2026 guide, not a verified current meta. |
| Loot quietly and leave | Consider Survival and prioritize a safe return. | This is a playstyle option described in The Guardian’s January 2026 guide. |
| Play with others | Coordinate movement and communicate. | The game supports squads, but the available sources do not establish that squad play is always easier. |
