Black smoke can help you find either from a distance. Breach the panel and search the opened compartments—but be ready for a Probe’s loud warning beeps to attract nearby ARC.
How to tell an ARC Probe from a Courier
ARC Probe
A Probe has a missile-like cylinder or pillar shape. It may stand upright, be embedded nose-first, or lie crashed on its side. Look for thick black smoke and listen for a steady, repeating beep: the sound can help you home in on it when the object is difficult to see. All Things How and Dot Esports describe these cues.
ARC Courier
A Courier is a larger, boxier or oval pod with a breach panel on its side. Thick black smoke is a useful clue; a nearby Courier may also show a UI icon, according to the All Things How guide. Couriers are less defined by a beacon sound than Probes, so use the smoke and shape to identify one.
Not every wreck is searchable
Do not mistake a destroyed ARC husk for a Probe or Courier. The All Things How guide describes husks as machine carcasses that do not beep and do not need breaching.

How to breach and search one
- Approach the object and confirm it is an interactable Probe or Courier rather than a husk.
- Find the breach panel and complete the breach interaction.
- Search the panel or compartments that open. An intact Probe opens three panels after a successful breach, while a crashed Probe opens one, according to the community-maintained ARC Raiders Wiki.
A Probe emits loud warning beeps while it is being breached, signaling nearby ARC; it powers down after the breach is complete. Couriers are comparatively quieter in the All Things How guide’s comparison, but breaching still makes some noise, so neither target is risk-free.
What loot can you get?
Published guides list possible ARC materials such as ARC Alloy, ARC Circuitry, ARC Motion Core, and ARC Powercell. Dot Esports also lists Metal Parts as a possible Probe resource, while All Things How names Hornet Driver and Damaged Hornet Driver among possible Courier loot. These are examples, not guaranteed drops: the cited guides do not establish drop rates or a complete current loot table.

Which target should you choose for A Bad Feeling?
Celeste’s quest A Bad Feeling asks you to “Find and search any Arc Probe or Courier,” according to the quest reference. Either target qualifies. If a Courier is nearer or seems safer to approach, you do not need to keep searching for a Probe; if you find a crashed Probe, it can still be searched even though it opens fewer panels.
Where to look on Dam Battlegrounds
PC Gamer reports finding Couriers just outside the west wall of Electrical Substation; near the road junction between Electrical Substation and Water Treatment; around Research & Administration and Small Creek; at South Swamp Outpost; and along the road near West Broken Bridge. The same guide reports Probes at Power Generation Complex, Hydroponic Dome Complex, the Research & Administration / Small Creek hills, and South Swamp Outpost. These are locations observed by the guide’s author, not guaranteed spawn points; the guide says locations can vary and Probes may descend during a match. Read PC Gamer’s location guide.

For a Probe, scan the horizon for smoke and pause to listen for the repeating beacon. Treat map pins as leads rather than promises: match state and location variation can change what is available. A dynamic Arcraiders.co interactive map lists filters for 145 Probe and 78 Courier markers on Spaceport; those displayed counts were observed on October 4, 2026, and are map inventory counts, not stable game spawn totals or odds.

| Breach exposure | Loud warning beeps during breach may alert nearby ARC. | Comparatively quieter in the cited guide, though breaching still makes noise. |
| Panels | Three panels when an intact Probe is successfully breached; one if it is crashed, according to the ARC Raiders Wiki. | Panel count not stated in the cited sources. |
| Location tendency | PC Gamer reports Probes may descend during a match and can be more variable. | PC Gamer describes Courier locations as more fixed in its observations; this is a tendency, not a rule. |
The available sources do not establish exact spawn odds, breach durations, or loot probabilities, so the comparison is qualitative.
