Beachcombing is a minor map condition on Riven Tides. While it is active, search the map’s north side for buried valuables and use the Dockmaster’s Detector to sweep exposed sand. The detector is not documented as having one guaranteed pickup coordinate, and Beachcombing no longer has a reliable universal UTC start time. Check your region’s in-game map-condition schedule before deploying.
What Beachcombing means in ARC Raiders
Beachcombing is an activity condition tied specifically to the Riven Tides map. It is not a permanent feature of every raid and does not describe a separate map. When the condition appears for your session, sand areas can hide loot that is revealed with a Dockmaster’s Detector.

Embark Studios introduced it in the Riven Tides update as a “new minor map condition.” The official description tells players to watch for the detector during a session, then sweep it across sand to uncover loot below the surface. That wording matters: the detector is a session-found gadget, not a tool that the update promises will always appear at a fixed landmark.

A community condition reference places the buried valuables on the north side of Riven Tides. Use that as your search zone, not as a guarantee that every cache, detector or item will spawn at one named point.

Where to search on Riven Tides
Start on the north side
Open the Riven Tides map and plan a route through northern shoreline and sand-heavy areas. Beachcombing targets are associated with open sand, so prioritize visible beach, dunes and broad exposed shore instead of spending the entire raid inside buildings or on paved ground.
“North side” is the strongest location detail established by the available references. No reviewed source provides a verified grid coordinate, landmark-by-landmark route or guaranteed detector container. If another player has marked a precise spot, treat it as a lead that may depend on the current condition, loot roll or map version rather than as a permanent rule.
Search methodically rather than crossing the whole map
Begin at one edge of the northern sand area and sweep in parallel passes. Keep enough distance between passes to cover the visible beach without repeatedly checking the same patch. If you find a detector, continue along the sand before moving inland; the tool is useful only when you are close enough to potential buried objects for an interaction prompt to appear.
Because the condition is minor, you still need to account for ordinary raid threats. Do not assume that a quiet beach is safe simply because it contains event loot. Listen for ARC activity, check sightlines before stopping to interact and leave yourself a route back to cover.
How the Dockmaster’s Detector works
- Enter Riven Tides while Beachcombing is active. The condition must be shown for the map and your region’s schedule; a normal Riven Tides deployment does not necessarily contain buried Beachcombing loot.
- Locate or obtain the detector. Embark’s update tells players to keep an eye out for it during the session. The update does not publish a single guaranteed spawn location.
- Equip the Dockmaster’s Detector. Use the game’s normal gadget-selection control and make sure the detector is active before approaching sand.
- Sweep across exposed sand. Move the detector over beach and dune surfaces. Watch for the game’s interaction or discovery indication rather than assuming every patch contains an item.
- Interact with the revealed find. Secure the item only after checking the area for enemies and hazards. Your detector is a means of uncovering loot, not protection from ARC units or other players.
The official mechanic is simple: carry the detector over sand to uncover buried loot. The sources do not establish a separate charge system, durability value, detection radius or required sweep pattern, so do not rely on unofficial numbers for those properties.

What can be buried under the sand?
A community-maintained condition page lists several possible discoveries. These details are secondary information rather than a complete official loot table, and individual raid results can vary.
| Reported find | How to treat the information |
|---|---|
| ARC Ticks | Possible hostile discovery; approach with your weapon ready. |
| Landmines | Potential hazard. The reference says to stay still and hold the interact key to deactivate one; moving away can trigger the explosion. |
| Weapon case | Possible valuable container revealed by the detector. |
| Suitcase | Possible buried container. |
| Basic materials | Useful crafting resources may appear among the finds. |
| Ship models | Reported collectible-style loot. |
| Fruit | One of the miscellaneous items listed by the reference. |
| Fertilizer | Another reported material find. |
The landmine procedure deserves special attention. If the game presents an interaction to disarm one, stop moving and hold the interact input as instructed by the reference. Backing away or strafing can be the action that detonates it. If you cannot safely interact because enemies are nearby, mark the location and return only when the area is clear; losing a raid for a low-value item is not an efficient Beachcombing route.

How to get a Dockmaster’s Detector
Official route: the Avian Alarm Raider Project
The clearest documented acquisition path is the Avian Alarm Raider Project. Embark Studios says its five stages include the Dockmaster’s Detector among the rewards. The official passage reviewed does not identify which stage grants the item or list every requirement, so check the project panel in your current game build before planning a stage-by-stage checklist.
This distinction is important: the project is confirmed as a reward source, but the available announcement does not establish that completing a particular publicly numbered stage always produces the detector under every version or account state. Read the reward preview and stage requirement in game, then complete the listed objectives.
Additional routes reported by a community reference
An item reference also lists scavenging during Beachcombing and the Shoring Up Defenses quest as ways to obtain the detector. These are community-reported options, not equally confirmed statements from the update announcement. Verify the current quest text, reward panel and session behavior before treating either as guaranteed.

| Route | Evidence level | Practical advice |
|---|---|---|
| Avian Alarm Raider Project | Confirmed by Embark as a project containing the detector among five-stage rewards; exact stage not stated in the announcement. | Open the project screen and confirm the stage and requirements in your build. |
| Scavenging during Beachcombing | Listed by a community-maintained item reference. | Search active Beachcombing sand areas, but do not assume a detector will appear every raid. |
| Shoring Up Defenses quest | Listed by the same secondary reference. | Check the quest’s current reward details before investing time for this item. |
No alternative physical tool is required. The Dockmaster’s Detector is an in-game gadget, and the official update identifies it as the device used for this condition.

When is Beachcombing active?
Do not use a universal fixed UTC time for Beachcombing. A recent ARC Raiders Community Wiki reference says regional map-condition scheduling was introduced with Live Update 1.42.0 on August 18, 2026, and specifically warns that older guides quoting one fixed UTC time are obsolete.
The reliable procedure is to check the map-condition schedule shown in your own game for your region. The available reference establishes that scheduling changed, but it does not provide a verified live Beachcombing time for every region. A time copied from another player may therefore be correct for that player and wrong for you.
- Open the map-selection or deployment screen.
- Select Riven Tides.
- Read the condition and schedule displayed for your region.
- Deploy only when Beachcombing is listed if your goal is buried loot.
- If the condition is absent, wait for the next regional rotation instead of assuming the detector mechanic is broken.
Schedules can also change with later updates. Treat the in-game display as the current authority and date-stamp any community timetable you keep for reference.
A practical Beachcombing raid plan
Before deployment
- Confirm that Riven Tides currently shows Beachcombing for your region.
- Review the Avian Alarm project and any active Shoring Up Defenses quest for detector-related rewards.
- Bring enough space for containers, materials and unexpected finds.
- Choose equipment that lets you disengage quickly; beach searches can leave you exposed.
On the map
- Move toward the northern sand areas using cover where available.
- Scan the open beach in a deliberate pattern rather than sprinting randomly between landmarks.
- When you locate the Dockmaster’s Detector, equip it and sweep nearby sand.
- Pause at every discovery prompt and identify whether the object is loot, an ARC Tick or a landmine.
- Disarm a landmine only while stationary and only when the area is secure.
- After collecting worthwhile finds, extract rather than extending the raid solely to search a second distant beach.
When the detector does not appear
First confirm that Beachcombing is active, because the detector is tied to the condition. Next, search additional northern sand rather than returning to one alleged spawn point. The reviewed sources do not establish a fixed detector coordinate, so failure to find it at a particular landmark does not prove that the event is malfunctioning.

If the condition is active and the project or quest should reward the item but the reward is missing, compare the current in-game text with older guides. A later game update may have changed stage rewards or quest availability. Record the map, region, update version and exact objective before reporting a bug; those details are more useful than a generic claim that “Beachcombing is not working.”

Following an old UTC timetable
Problem: You queue at a time copied from a pre-1.42.0 guide and find no Beachcombing condition.
Fix: Use the regional schedule displayed in game. The scheduling change associated with Live Update 1.42.0 makes a single global UTC table unreliable.
Expecting a guaranteed detector at one landmark
Problem: You search one pier, building or beach corner and conclude the item is unavailable.

What is confirmed—and what is not
| Question | Current answer |
|---|---|
| Which map has Beachcombing? | Riven Tides. |
| What tool uncovers the buried loot? | The Dockmaster’s Detector. |
| Where should you begin searching? | The north side of Riven Tides, especially exposed sand. |
| Is there one guaranteed detector coordinate? | Not established by the reviewed sources. |
| Is there one global UTC activation time? | No reliable universal time; regional scheduling applies. |
| What official project can reward the detector? | The five-stage Avian Alarm Raider Project. |
| Which exact Avian Alarm stage awards it? | Not stated in the reviewed official passage; verify in game. |
| Are scavenging and Shoring Up Defenses additional sources? | They are listed by a community reference and should be verified against the current build. |
The dependable answer is therefore straightforward: activate Riven Tides when your regional schedule shows Beachcombing, search northern sand, and use the Dockmaster’s Detector to reveal buried objects. Keep expectations flexible about the detector’s exact spawn and the event’s timing, because neither is documented as a universal fixed value.
