Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo complete “Nail down the roof plates on the Raider structure near Trapper’s Glade,” deploy to The Blue Gate, travel to Trapper’s Glade, and find the small ruined square shack near the southern-center portion of the area. Climb onto its roof using the box on the east side, then interact with the loose metal sheets between the two traffic cones.
This is an environmental interaction: you do not need a hammer, repair tool, nails, crafting materials, or a separate inventory item.

Where to find the roof plates
- Deploy to The Blue Gate.
- Travel to Trapper’s Glade on the western side of the map.
- Look just south of the “Trapper’s” part of the map label, around the center-to-southern section of the named area.
- Search the trees for a small, ruined, square Raider shack.
The target is not the nearby larger structure covered in cables, and it is not the satellite installation. If you are looking at either of those, move through the trees and keep searching for the smaller square building. All Things How identifies the correct shack and nearby landmarks.
How to nail down the plates
- Go to the east side of the small shack.
- Use the box there to climb onto the roof.
- Once on the roof, face the loose metal sheets positioned between two traffic cones.
- Move your aim over the sheets until the context-sensitive interaction prompt appears.
- Use the input shown by your own control scheme to complete the interaction.
The exact button is not universal because it depends on your keyboard, controller, and custom bindings. Current guides confirm the interaction prompt but do not establish one fixed key or face button for every player. PC Gamer’s walkthrough shows the roof approach and target sheets.

Do you need a tool or materials?
No. The documented objective is completed by interacting directly with the loose roof sheets. It is not a crafting action, an inventory action, or a generic repair that requires a multi-tool, hammer, nails, or other resources.
Be careful with guides that describe pressing four buttons to activate four indicators. That procedure conflicts with the current walkthroughs placing this objective at the Trapper’s Glade shack and may be outdated or associated with another Raider structure. The conflicting four-button method is documented as an unverified alternative.

The roof objective registers immediately after the interaction. You do not need to extract for this individual objective to count, and the four objectives may be completed across multiple raids. GameSpot confirms the multi-raid and extraction behavior.

After all four objectives are complete, Apollo awards:
- Shrapnel Grenade ×3
- Snap Blast Grenade ×3
- Heavy Fuze Grenade ×3
Prima Games lists the quest rewards.
If the interaction does not appear
- Check the building: Make sure you are at the small square shack, not the cable-covered structure or satellite installation.
- Get onto the roof: The prompt is reached from above, not from ground level. Use the box on the shack’s east side.
- Face the sheets: Aim at the loose metal plates between the two traffic cones.
- Check your surroundings: Players and ARC patrols, including Bombardiers, can interrupt you. The roof leaves you exposed, so clear or avoid threats before starting the interaction.
- Check quest progress: Open the quest entry and confirm that the objective has registered before leaving the area.
Do not assume the objective failed merely because you have not extracted. Extraction is not required for the completed roof interaction to count.

- Customize Everything: An extensive crafting system invites you to mix and match materials scavenged from the island, while also modifying the colors, textures, shapes, and styles
- Explore the Island: Solve the mystery of The ARK as you explore this massive island, discovering Explorer's Notebooks (filled with clues!) throughout
Quest-giver clarification
A First Foothold is assigned by Apollo, not Shani. Some guide entries incorrectly attribute the quest to Shani, but current quest references identify Apollo as the giver. The Apollo quest reference supports that attribution.

Update context
The latest official update covered by the supplied version information is Live Update 1.39.0, released July 28, 2026. Its notes do not list a change to the Trapper’s Glade roof-plate objective.
