Prickly Pear is a consumable in ARC Raiders that restores 20 stamina and is mainly worth keeping for the Scrappy III-to-IV upgrade. The most reliable place to search is the large cactus patch in southern Buried City, although the fruit can appear near cacti on other maps and may also be found in Wicker Baskets.
Prickly Pear stats
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Consumable |
| Stamina restored | 20 |
| Use time | 1 second |
| Weight | 0.2 |
| Value | 640 |
| Stack size | 10 |
| Reported rarity | Uncommon on one current database; Common on another |
The rarity label is not consistent across current third-party databases, so it is safer to treat Prickly Pear as an inconsistently classified item rather than rely on either label as definitive. Its gameplay function is clearer: use it for a small, fast stamina recovery or save it for crafting and progression.
Where to find Prickly Pear in ARC Raiders
Southern Buried City
The most consistently reported high-yield search area is the southern part of Buried City, where a large cactus patch provides the best-known concentration of potential spawns. Search the ground around every cactus rather than looking for an interaction on the plant itself.
A Prickly Pear Cactus can generate one to three bright reddish Prickly Pears on the ground beneath it. However, the fruit is not guaranteed. A cactus patch can be empty in a particular raid, and another player may have collected the fruit before you arrive. See the location reports from PC Gamer and GameSpot for the southern Buried City route.

- Plus: Character Cosmetic, Finger Gun Rapid Fire Emote, Cowboy Scrappy Body Type and Skin, 2 400 Raider Tokens.
Dam Battlegrounds
Dam Battlegrounds is another reported source, especially around the outer perimeter and northern areas. Its cactus and fruit availability appears less consistent than southern Buried City, so use it as a secondary search option rather than a guaranteed farming route.
Other maps and Wicker Baskets
Prickly Pears may appear near cacti across multiple maps; current references do not establish that the item is restricted to only one or two maps. You can also find them while scavenging Wicker Baskets. Because the fruit is a chance-based spawn, checking suitable cactus areas during normal raids may be more practical than repeatedly forcing a single route.
Rank #2
Location coverage remains somewhat variable between guides. The strongest consistent evidence points to southern Buried City, with Dam Battlegrounds as another option. Specific spawn-count claims for Dustbowl, Ember Fields, and Victory Ridge should not be treated as confirmed.
How to collect Prickly Pears
- Locate a cactus patch. Use the cacti as landmarks, particularly in southern Buried City.
- Inspect the ground below and around each cactus. The collectible is the reddish fruit, not the cactus itself.
- Search the entire cluster. One cactus may produce up to three fruits, but the number can vary.
- Check Wicker Baskets when nearby. They are an additional possible source.
- Leave and try another raid if the patch is empty. A cactus does not guarantee a fruit spawn.
Important spawn and harvesting details
- You cannot force the fruit to drop by hitting or kicking the cactus. That behavior is associated with some fruit trees, not Prickly Pear Cactus.
- The fruit may be easy to miss. The cactus is the obvious visual marker, but the item lies on the ground, so search around the plant before moving on.
- Known patches may already be cleared. Other players can collect the fruit while the cactus remains in place.
- A failed search does not prove the location is wrong. Community reports describe both empty known patches and raids where only one Prickly Pear was found.
These conditions make Prickly Pear a poor target for a guaranteed single-run farm. If you need several for Scrappy, plan for multiple searches and extract safely when you have enough rather than assuming every cactus cluster will be productive.

Scrappy upgrade requirement
Prickly Pear is required for the Scrappy III-to-IV Workbench upgrade. The confirmed materials are:
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Prickly Pear | 6 |
| Olives | 6 |
| Cat Bed | 1 |
Current item databases list Prickly Pear as part of one Workbench upgrade: Scrappy III to Scrappy IV. If you are working toward that upgrade, keep at least six Prickly Pears in storage before considering other uses.

Other uses: Fruit Mix
Prickly Pear is also an ingredient in the Fruit Mix recipe:
- 1 Lemon
- 1 Apricot
- 1 Prickly Pear
The recipe requires the In-Round Crafting skill. This gives the item a second crafting purpose beyond the Scrappy upgrade, which is why recycling every spare fruit can create problems for future progression.

Should you recycle or salvage Prickly Pear?
Usually, no—not until you have accounted for the Scrappy upgrade and Fruit Mix recipe.
| Action | Output | Practical choice |
|---|---|---|
| Recycle | 3 Assorted Seeds | Generally avoid while you still need Prickly Pear for crafting or Scrappy |
| Salvage | 2 Assorted Seeds | Lower seed return; use only if you have decided the fruit is expendable |
One current tracker explicitly marks Prickly Pear as not safe to recycle because it is used in both a recipe and a Workbench upgrade. Its 640 value may make selling or discarding it tempting, but the item is more useful when reserved for progression. A sensible priority is:
- Save six Prickly Pears for Scrappy IV.
- Keep an additional one if you intend to make Fruit Mix and have the In-Round Crafting skill.
- Use excess fruit as a consumable or recycle it only after those needs are covered.
Quick farming plan
For the least wasted time, begin in southern Buried City and sweep the ground beneath the large cactus patch. Collect visible fruit, then check nearby Wicker Baskets if the route permits. If no fruit appears, do not attack the cacti; move on or try again in a later raid. Dam Battlegrounds can serve as a backup search area, but its reported availability is less dependable.
Because Prickly Pears weigh only 0.2 each and stack to 10, carrying several for the Scrappy requirement is relatively space-efficient. The main risk is not inventory weight—it is losing a useful progression item by recycling or spending it before the upgrade is ready.
Bottom line
Search the cactus patch in southern Buried City first, inspect the ground rather than the cactus, and expect inconsistent spawns. Prickly Pear restores 20 stamina in one second, but its most important use is the six required for upgrading Scrappy from III to IV. Keep those, account for the Fruit Mix recipe, and only then consider recycling or salvaging the item.
