Before selling, recycling, or salvaging an item in ARC Raiders, inspect its current item card and check whether it is needed for an active quest, recipe, or workshop upgrade. The card shows recycling and salvage outputs, so you can judge an item against your actual progression instead of relying on a static keep-or-sell list.
How to decide what to do with an item
- Check the item card. Embark’s 1.17.0 patch notes, dated February 24, 2026, say inventory tooltips show recycling and salvage outputs. The notes also say crafting and recycling screens present costs and rewards in a consistent order. Use the values shown in your current game, which reflect your version and progression.
- Check progression needs before clearing it out. Keep an item if a current quest, recipe, or workshop upgrade calls for it, or if it supports a near-term crafting goal. Community guidance describes the item card’s “Used in” information as a way to spot recipe, quest, and upgrade uses, alongside the game’s progression and tracking cues. Requirements vary as you progress, so a fixed keep list may not fit your stash.
- Compare the recycling output with your plans. If the item is recyclable, check which components it yields and whether those components help with a craft or upgrade you intend to make. Recycling is not automatically better than selling: the available guidance establishes no universal sell-versus-recycle break-even rule.
- Sell items marked as sell-only. Community guidance says diamond-tagged Trinket items cannot be recycled and are intended for sale. Confirm the classification on the current item card rather than relying on the label from a remembered list.
- Choose where to process it. When practical, recycle in Speranza. A community reference reports that in-raid recycling returns half the components of Speranza recycling and that Topside salvage can yield fewer or lower-quality returns. This is community-reported guidance, not an official yield guarantee; check the displayed output before committing.
What to keep, sell, recycle, or salvage
| Action | Good fit | Check before acting |
|---|---|---|
| Keep | Items needed for an active quest, a planned recipe, or a workshop upgrade; scarce components that match a near-term goal. | Whether the current item card or tracked goal identifies a use. Needs depend on your progression. |
| Sell | Items marked as Trinkets or otherwise identified as sell-only; surplus whose sale better serves your immediate plan than its component output. | Confirm the item’s classification and consider whether you still need it for progression. |
| Recycle | Recyclable items whose displayed components support a current craft or upgrade, especially items you do not intend to use directly. | Read the current output preview and compare it with your needs. |
| Salvage | An item you want or need to process Topside when you accept the possibility of reduced returns. | Community guidance describes Topside salvage as less rewarding than Speranza recycling; inspect the in-game preview. |
A fan-made stash guide recommends selling excess common materials after keeping a reasonable working reserve. Its suggested thresholds are editorial advice, not official rules; set a reserve around the items and crafts you actually plan to pursue.
Item examples: useful illustrations, not a complete list
Community item references give examples of why the output preview matters: a Candle Holder can yield Metal Parts; Household Cleaner and Impure ARC Coolant can yield Chemicals; and Burned ARC Circuitry can yield ARC Alloy. The listed amounts are described as baseline examples that may vary with pickup rarity, so do not treat them as guaranteed current yields.
PC Gamer’s coverage of the 1.17 tooltip change also cites Geiger Counters as a source of Batteries and Exodus Materials, and Ion Sputters as salvageable for Voltage Converters. These examples illustrate the feature; they are not an exhaustive item-by-item guide.

Why static inventory lists can mislead
Embark’s 1.17.0 notes establish that the game displays recycling and salvage outputs in inventory tooltips. They do not establish that every item yield or progression requirement stayed unchanged through October 2026. The official 1.48.0 update, dated September 29, 2026, concerns the store and cosmetics, so it does not confirm the state of inventory mechanics. For a particular item, the live card and your current tracked goals are the safest guide.
