Where to shoot a Shredder
Target its thrusters instead of spending the whole encounter firing into its main armor. The thrusters are identified as the Shredder’s reliable weak point in a current gameplay guide. Armor-penetrating weapons
The guide recommends weapons with armor penetration, naming the Anvil and Ferro. Aim deliberately at the thrusters; the recommendation does not guarantee a kill in a particular number of shots.
Explosives
Explosives are another option during or immediately after the Shredder’s charge, when you have an opening to use them. This is a timing-dependent alternative, not a universal fastest-kill method.

Choose cover before you engage
Shredders were introduced for close-quarters encounters. Before opening fire, identify solid cover and an escape route. If the Shredder signals its shrapnel attack, break contact and get behind that cover. The guide cautions that shields are not a substitute for hard cover.
Where Shredders spawn now
Stella Montis was the Shredder’s debut location, not its only current location. Embark’s November 12, 2025 North Line announcement said it would first appear on Stella Montis, where Raiders would face close-quarters encounters. North Line update announcement
That map-exclusive framing was superseded by Embark’s March 31, 2026 Flashpoint version 1.22.0 notes: Shredders were added to all maps, with Dam Battlegrounds spawns restricted to certain map conditions. Why older Shredder advice may be outdated
Embark’s November 20, 2025 version 1.3.0 notes record changes to Shredder movement and handling, improved navigation, and a more reliable response to Lure Grenades. Advice based on earlier behavior may not describe the enemy as it currently acts. Version 1.3.0 patch notes

How much ammunition does it take?
There is no fixed official shot count or ammunition figure in the reviewed official materials. The guide says ammunition needs vary with weapon tier, hit placement, parts destroyed, and game version. Plan to adapt rather than rely on a guaranteed round count or kill time.
