The most useful starting point is a launch-week allocation published by Arc Raiders Hub on October 8, 2026, the day Embark’s Frozen Trail 2.0 update went live. Its author labels it “Very Early Access,” written from the pre-release tree rather than weeks of play. Below you will find that template, how the reworked tree limits what you can change, and which swaps make sense depending on whether you care most about moving around the mountains, looting, or carrying and combat utility.
What Frozen Trail 2.0 changed for skills
Embark’s 2.0 update added Pendola Pass, the Frigate and Redirection map conditions, the Bully, Skulker, and Hydra enemies, the Bantam and Stiletto weapons, Amplified Weapons, a revamped skill tree, the Grappling Hook, cameras, the Tether Launcher, the Yank Grenade, the Mountaineer’s Detector, musical instruments, an Outpost and Research Bench, and other progression changes. The Frozen Trail Pass runs 60 levels across Free and Premium tracks. Those details come from Embark’s official 2.0 update notes.
The live announcement places Pendola Pass beyond the Rust Belt, after the Emperor has gone down and ARC forces respond. It calls the Bully a forceful threat, the Skulker a stalking enemy, and the Hydra a squad-killer guarding the Emperor and the Frigate. It recommends arriving with new skills and gear, specifically Tethers and the Grapple Hook.
Embark’s August pre-launch announcement described a harsh frozen settlement among mountains, with villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory, and said level design leaned on verticality, exploration, and discovery. How the revamped tree limits your choices
The tree is built around choices rather than one long line of stat boosts. Embark’s official notes describe the rules as follows:
- Middle branch: you choose one of two skills. You can make that choice again after resetting the skill tree, but changing a pick otherwise requires a reset.
- Branch ends: two nodes offer three skills each. After the required investment, you may select up to two.
Embark’s stated goal for the revamp is “to look at under-performing skills, modify or replace them, and to get closer to the goal of making choice and expression a more core feature of the Skill Tree.” Embark says it expects further tweaks as it watches how players use the system.

Arc Raiders Hub’s guide reports the unlock thresholds below. These are third-party figures, and the guide itself warns they may change, so confirm them in the in-game tree before you commit points.

The reasoning is a plausible fit rather than a measured advantage. Pendola Pass is built around vertical movement and exploration, so a build that front-loads stamina and climbing addresses the problem of being caught exposed on a traversal route. Nothing in the available evidence shows that this allocation produces safer extractions or higher win rates. If you find traversal is where you lose the most ground, the mobility weighting is the part most likely to matter.

Compare the options along three axes rather than against a single ranking.

Traversal and stamina
The Mobility branch’s late choices differ in meaningful ways. PC Gamer’s Morgan Park describes three of them:
- Sprinting on Fumes: prevents stamina from fully draining while sprinting. This is the one the template targets.
- Wall Run: lets you take a few steps up a wall.
- In the Flow: rewards chained mobility moves with speed and stamina-cost benefits.
Choose Sprinting on Fumes if long sprints are your main problem. Choose Wall Run if you want vertical reach beyond climbing. Choose In the Flow if you already chain vaults, slides, and climbs together.

Looting and field utility
The template takes 14 Survival points for early loot skills and stops before the Survival capstone. That is the guide author’s priority, not a proven threshold. If looting drives your runs, move points from Mobility into the Survival branch and accept slower traversal.
Carrying, combat, and access
The guide reports that carry skills moved into Conditioning, where Security Breach also sits. Pick this route if you value carrying more, combat utility, or access. The effects of these skills are not fully described in the sources available here, so read each skill’s in-game description before you rely on it.

PC Gamer’s Morgan Park played about three hours of the update. He found that the Grappling Hook expands movement, but it takes trial and error: ropes can snag, fail to grab a ledge, or slide off a large machine. He did not thoroughly test the Tether Launcher or the Yank Grenade.
He also reported that the new abilities did not change how he played during that short preview. Sprinting for longer felt useful, while many nodes remained incremental stat boosts. This is one writer’s first impression, not a consensus or a measured result.
Before you commit points
- Check each unlock threshold in the in-game tree, since the guide’s gates are third-party reporting.
- Read each skill’s current description, because effects can change with balance patches.
- Remember that middle-branch picks cost a full tree reset to change.
- Expect the template to shift. Arc Raiders Hub labels its build “Very Early Access,” and Embark says it will keep adjusting the tree as it watches player behavior.
Start with the 31-31-14 template if you want a traversal-first run on Pendola Pass. Switch the Mobility or Conditioning choices toward looting or combat utility if those are the parts of the map that cost you the most.
