The change was aimed at making timed, mid-air detonations harder while preserving the grenade’s role as a sticky bomb. Later patch notes document separate bug fixes—not additional intended nerfs.
What Update 1.11.0 changed
The trigger-to-detonation delay increased from 0.7 seconds to 1.5 seconds, according to the patch wording reproduced in a Steam Community post and summarized by TechRadar. That extra time makes it harder to throw a grenade and trigger it in the air at just the right moment.
The update also changed damage falloff: more damage is concentrated near the explosion’s center, with less dealt farther away. The stated aim was to make the grenade less useful as a “trigger-in-air” weapon without removing its usefulness as a sticky bomb. The timing and damage changes work together: the grenade is less forgiving as an instant aerial burst, while sticking it to a target or surface remains its intended use.
Why Embark said it was making the change
Before the update, Embark design lead Virgil Watkins described the Trigger ’Nade adjustment as part of a broader balance pass. In GamesRadar’s January 9, 2026 coverage, he said the upcoming update would address the Kettle and Trigger Nades, with further balancing work to follow.
That context supports reading the 1.11.0 change as an intended balance adjustment. The “finally” framing in player discussions reflects frustration among some players, but it should not be taken as evidence of a measured community consensus.
Later patch notes describe bugs, not more nerfs
Two later notes are easy to mistake for additional balance changes because they involve Trigger ’Nades. Their wording describes fixes to unintended behavior instead:

- ARC Raiders Deluxe Edition includes the base game and the following content: The Wanderer Set, including the following cosmetic items: “Valente” Outfit" “Pathfinder” Backpack,“Blanket Roll” Backpack Attachment.
- Plus: Character Cosmetic, Finger Gun Rapid Fire Emote, Cowboy Scrappy Body Type and Skin, 2 400 Raider Tokens.
- Update 1.23.0, April 8, 2026: The notes say a bug was fixed in which two Trigger ’Nades detonated next to one another and sometimes dealt three times the damage. This is described in a Reddit post reproducing the patch notes as a damage-calculation fix, not a new intended reduction to grenade damage.
- Update 1.27.0, May 5, 2026: Embark’s official notes say a recently introduced bug that let players trigger grenades instantly when thrown was fixed. That restores the intended behavior; it is not described as a rebalance.
What these changes mean for using a Trigger ’Nade
The clearest practical distinction is between a timed air burst and a sticky-bomb use. The longer delay makes an immediate mid-air detonation more difficult to time, and the revised falloff makes distance from the blast center matter more. For the sticky-bomb role, the stated design goal was to retain usefulness; the cited notes do not establish a current ranking of Trigger ’Nades against other grenade choices.
The cited Trigger ’Nade information runs through May 2026. It establishes the January nerf and the later bug fixes, but does not establish whether Embark made another balance change after Update 1.27.0 and before October 2026. So the January adjustment can be described precisely, but not called the latest or definitive current balance state on this evidence alone.
