Weapon amplification in ARC Raiders is a fifth quality tier unlocked through a fully upgraded Research Workstation in your Outpost. What weapon amplification is in ARC Raiders
Amplification is a late-game weapon progression system, not an ordinary attachment slot. Once a gun is amplified, it reaches a fifth quality level and can unlock a special ability or enhancement. Embark designed the system for players who repeatedly rely on a small group of favorite weapons: a branch can make a familiar gun fill a different role instead of forcing you to abandon it for a completely different model.

The system arrived in the Frozen Trail update on October 8, 2026. The launch roster contains 15 weapons, and Embark has said that more weapons are planned. The official preview describes the upgrades as branching changes and personalization, so amplification should not be treated as a guaranteed all-purpose stat boost.
How to unlock weapon amplification
The confirmed prerequisite is a fully upgraded Research Workstation in the Outpost. Embark’s description specifically says that the fifth quality level is accessed through that station. The feature therefore sits behind Outpost progression rather than being available from a normal Gunsmith menu at the beginning of a playthrough.

- Establish the Outpost. The Outpost is the base area in which the amplification system is installed.
- Upgrade the Research Workstation completely. The official material confirms that the workstation must be fully upgraded before the fifth weapon tier becomes available.
- Open the weapon’s amplification entry at the Research Workstation. Inspect the available branches, their effects, and the current material requirement shown by the live game.
- Compare the branch with your intended role before confirming. Check firing mode, magazine behavior, reload timing, accuracy, recoil, and whether you mainly use the weapon against Raiders or ARC enemies.
The published feature announcement does not provide a complete list of workstation upgrade materials or a universal amplification price. Do not rely on a remembered cost from an earlier patch; read the confirmation screen in your current build.
Which weapons can be amplified in ARC Raiders?
There are 15 compatible weapons at launch. Embark’s official preview names three examples, but it does not publish a complete compatibility matrix. That means the absence of a weapon from the table below does not prove that it is incompatible; it means only that its launch branch was not identified in the official material reviewed.

Because the official announcement stops at examples rather than a full list, the Research Workstation is the correct place to check whether a particular weapon is among the 15, which branches it offers, and whether a later update has added another option.

Burletta: automatic-fire conversion
Embark’s Burletta example changes the firing mode to fully automatic. That can make the gun easier to use when tracking a moving target or responding to a close-range push. It also changes ammunition consumption and recoil management compared with a slower, manually paced firing pattern. Test the amplified handling in a safe situation before assuming that automatic fire is better for every encounter.

Renegade: adding a scope
The Renegade example adds a scope rather than simply advertising a raw damage increase. A sight can improve target identification and precision at range, but it also changes your visual picture and may be less comfortable in cramped fights. Choose it when the weapon’s role in your loadout benefits from deliberate ranged shots, not merely because a scope sounds like a higher tier.
Rattler: incendiary ammunition and 64 rounds
The Rattler example adds incendiary bullets and a 64-round magazine. The larger magazine can reduce the number of reload interruptions, while incendiary ammunition changes the weapon’s damage behavior. Treat those as separate tactical advantages: capacity helps sustained fire, whereas the ammunition effect may matter more against a particular target or engagement pattern. The 64-round capacity is the number Embark used in its launch example, not a promise that every Rattler variant or future balance pass will retain it.
Is amplification a damage upgrade?
Not by definition. The confirmed examples alter firing mode, optics, ammunition type, and magazine capacity. Those are role and handling changes, and their value depends on the encounter. A faster firing mode may improve close-range pressure while increasing recoil or ammunition use. A scope may aid precision while making rapid target transitions harder. A larger magazine may delay reloads but does not automatically solve accuracy or positioning problems.

Evaluate each branch against four questions:
- Target: Is the weapon primarily for Raiders, ARC enemies, or player-versus-player fights?
- Fire control: Does the new firing mode fit how accurately you can control recoil and cadence?
- Sustain: Does the magazine or reload change solve a real problem in your usual engagements?
- Handling: Do the sight picture, spread, recoil, and movement behavior still suit the range at which you use the gun?
Embark presents amplification as a way to reinvent and personalize an arsenal, not as a blanket increase to every underlying statistic.

What does weapon amplification cost?
A complete official materials and currency table has not been published in the feature preview or the Frozen Trail launch notes. The available ARC Raiders Hub guide, updated October 11, 2026, says that some tooltip numbers and research costs were still being filled in. Consequently, there is no settled, source-backed price list to apply to every weapon or branch.
Costs can also change as the new system is balanced. Before spending materials, open the exact branch in your current Research Workstation and verify:
- the required research inputs;
- any weapon, station, or Outpost level requirement shown on the screen;
- whether the displayed cost is for unlocking the branch, upgrading the weapon, or both; and
- the final confirmation text, including any warning about changing the weapon permanently.
If a guide gives a precise cost without showing a current in-game tooltip or patch context, treat that number as provisional rather than universal.
Can you undo or change an amplification?
A community-maintained wiki reports that amplification cannot be reverted. That claim is not confirmed in Embark’s official preview or launch notes. The same wiki also reports that the Outpost, Gunsmith, and Research Stations must reach level 4, but those progression requirements likewise were not confirmed by the official pages reviewed.

Because the consequence may be permanent, use the in-game confirmation screen as the deciding evidence. If the screen warns that a branch cannot be reversed, assume the choice is final for that weapon and select the path that matches your long-term loadout. If the screen does not show a warning, do not infer unlimited respecs; check the current rules in the station interface.
Additional weapon paths reported by the community
Community references describe possibilities beyond Embark’s three named examples. These reports are useful for discovering what to inspect, but they should not be treated as a definitive compatibility list because they are maintained outside the official game documentation.
- Anvil: reported choices involving anti-weak-point behavior or projectile splitting.
- Hairpin: a reported semi-automatic path.
- Burletta: a reported burst-fire path in addition to the officially announced full-auto example.
- Kettle: a reported full-automatic path.
- Reload-focused branches: reported for several weapons, with the exact weapons and values changing as tooltips are updated.
- Sprint shooting: reported for several weapons.
- Canto: a reported carbine conversion.
- Renegade and Jupiter: reported scope options.
Use these reports as a checklist when browsing the Research Workstation, not as a substitute for the current tooltip. A branch shown in your build takes priority over an older wiki entry, and a branch absent from your build should not be assumed to be unlocked by meeting a guide’s requirements.

Start with the job your loadout already lacks
If your squad needs sustained fire, a magazine or reload branch may be more valuable than an optic. If you struggle to finish targets at range, a scope or precision-oriented option may solve a clearer problem. Avoid paying for a branch merely because it sounds more advanced than the base weapon.

Separate PvE value from PvP value
Incendiary ammunition, weak-point behavior, or projectile splitting may perform differently against ARC enemies than against human opponents. Automatic fire can help track a player at close range but can also expose your position through faster ammunition expenditure. Consider the encounters you actually play rather than assuming one branch dominates every mode.
Account for the whole handling package
Firing mode, recoil, accuracy, magazine size, reload time, movement options, and sight picture interact. A larger magazine is less useful if the amplified weapon becomes difficult to control; a scope is less useful if most fights happen inside a room. Read the complete branch description and compare it with your current attachments and squad role.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- Assuming every weapon is compatible: only 15 weapons were announced for the launch; inspect the station rather than guessing from the quality system.
- Treating amplification as a universal buff: the confirmed changes are behavioral and role-based, so gains come with handling trade-offs.
