No. Steam Families lets members play eligible games owned by others in their family, but some games and DLC are excluded. Eligibility can depend on a game’s technical requirements, publisher settings, region, operating-system support, and whether the owner has marked it private. Check the specific game in Steam: the general rules cannot confirm the current status of every title.
Which games can’t be shared on Steam?
Steam’s Steam Families FAQ lists several reasons a game or piece of DLC may be unavailable:
- Third-party requirements: A game that requires an additional third-party key, account, or subscription to play may not be shareable. Existing exclusions from the older Family Sharing system also carry over, including games that require an additional third-party account or subscription.
- Free-to-play status: Free-to-play games and DLC bought for those games are excluded from sharing.
- Regional restrictions: A game or DLC restricted in the region of either family member may be unavailable.
- Operating-system support: A game that does not support the other member’s operating system cannot be shared with that member.
- Publisher settings: Publishers can mark games or DLC as unavailable for sharing. An eligible game remains eligible unless its publisher later opts out.
- Private status: Games marked private by their owner are not available to family members. Steam says a private game’s ownership, in-game status, playtime, and activity are hidden from other users; see Steam’s Private Games help page.
These are categories, not a complete title-by-title list. A specific game’s eligibility can change, so check it in Steam rather than assuming that all games from a particular publisher or genre share the same status.
How to check whether a particular game is shareable
Steam’s FAQ does not provide a universal list of currently eligible titles. Check the game in Steam for the account, region, and operating system that will use it. If it is missing or unavailable, consider the exclusion categories above—especially publisher settings, third-party requirements, regional restrictions, operating-system support, and whether the owner made it private.

What happens when a game is shared?
Copies and playing at the same time
Each copy supports one player at a time. If two family members want to play the same game simultaneously, the family needs another copy. Members can play different games at the same time.
DLC access
A player using another member’s copy gets DLC owned by that member only when the publisher has marked that DLC as shareable.

Achievements and saves
Achievements belong to each player’s own Steam account. Save-game behavior varies by game.
Offline play
A family-library game can be played offline if that game supports Family Sharing.

How Steam Families works
Steam Families combines the former Steam Family Sharing and Family View features. Steam says a family can have up to six members and describes the feature as intended for close family in one household. To create one, go to Store > Account Details > Family Management. Family games appear in the Steam library, where members can group titles by library in the client.
