Fishing Planet has BaitCoins, an in-game currency—not Bitcoin cryptocurrency. You can check official Twitch Drops for temporary watch-time rewards, earn rewards through current in-game challenges, missions, and events, or choose to buy optional packs. No current official source establishes a fastest repeatable farming route or a reliable BaitCoin-per-hour rate.
What BaitCoins are—and what they are not
BaitCoins are a currency used within Fishing Planet. They are not Bitcoin, a cryptocurrency, and the game’s BaitCoin rewards are not a way to mine or earn real-world crypto. The official Fishing Planet site presents the game and its optional offers; its packs and promotions may include extra BaitCoins. A purchase is optional, not a requirement established for earning or playing.
Ways to get BaitCoins
| Route | What it involves | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Official Twitch Drops | Watch eligible streams after linking accounts as instructed. The official campaign page accessed on October 7, 2026 listed BaitCoins at selected watch-time milestones, alongside other rewards. | Campaign dates, eligible streams, account-linking steps, and the live reward milestones. Drops are campaign-specific, not a permanent schedule. Official Twitch Drops page |
| Challenges, missions, and events | Complete the conditions shown in the game’s current menus. Rewards and requirements depend on the activity. | Check the in-game Challenges, Missions, and event panels; a current exhaustive payout table is not established by the available official sources. The official News page can help identify active announcements. |
| Optional packs | Buy an available pack that includes BaitCoins, if you want the paid route. | Confirm the current contents and terms on the official site or your platform’s storefront. Packs are separate from gameplay earning. Official Fishing Planet site |
Check a Twitch Drops campaign before watching
- Open the official Drops page and confirm that a campaign is active and that its dates have not passed.
- Follow the account-linking instructions shown there and verify that the correct Twitch and Fishing Planet accounts are connected.
- Read the current reward milestones and eligibility requirements. A BaitCoin milestone on one campaign page does not guarantee the same reward or timing in another campaign.
How to approach BaitCoin farming without relying on a false “fastest” route
There is no current, authoritative comparison establishing which repeatable activity produces the most BaitCoins per hour. Treat claims of a universal fastest farm cautiously: payouts, event availability, platform, game version, and player level can change what is practical. Instead, inspect the reward conditions in your own game and choose an activity whose requirements match your level and gear.
- Look at the reward and completion conditions before spending time or resources on a mission or event.
- Check whether an activity is limited-time; an event reward may disappear when the event ends.
- Do not assume that catching a unique fish always grants BaitCoins. Confirm the reward shown for that challenge or activity.
- Keep the free-to-play Fishing Planet distinct from The Fisherman: Fishing Planet. A 2021 Steam community post reported different time-forwarding costs between them, but that is dated, version-dependent player advice—not a current universal rule. Check the mechanics in your own edition and platform. Steam community discussion
Unique fish, event baits, and “unique items” are different things
In Fishing Planet, a unique fish is a fish category; a special or event bait is an item. They are not interchangeable terms, and a unique catch does not automatically mean you have obtained a unique item. The official Wiki’s Event Baits page describes selected baits associated with particular event targets, mission rewards, or BaitCoin prices. Its page history is old, so use it as a reference to item categories, not proof that a bait, price, or event is currently available.

Before using a special bait
- Check the current event panel and mission text for the target species and exact conditions.
- Confirm whether the bait is a mission reward, an event item, or an item with a listed BaitCoin price; availability can differ.
- Match your setup to the target fish and the gear you have. A 2021 Steam commenter recommended stronger line for heavier unique catfish at Quanchkin, but this is a single dated example, not a universal setup recommendation. Check current fish and equipment information for your platform, level, and version. Steam community discussion
What to do if a reward or bait is missing
- For Drops, recheck campaign eligibility, linked accounts, and the campaign’s claim instructions on the official page.
- For a mission or event, reread its current in-game requirements and confirm that the activity is still available.
- For an item described on the Wiki, check whether the game currently offers it; the page’s historical information may not reflect a live event or current price.
- For time-forwarding or other edition-specific mechanics, verify the rules in your own game rather than applying old advice about another Fishing Planet edition.
