I found no current official Grinding Gear Games notice confirming that Path of Exile 2 servers are down. That does not prove the game is online: availability can change quickly, so check GGG’s official forum and official news for a current notice before troubleshooting. A login failure can also come from a platform or account sign-in problem, or from your own connection.
How to check whether Path of Exile 2 is down
Start with GGG’s official news and forum rather than treating a timeout or login error as proof of a game-wide outage. The official Path of Exile 2 support page provides account management, common issues, gameplay help, and technical support. The material available here does not establish live server availability or an uptime figure.
- If GGG has posted a current service notice, follow its updates and any guidance for affected players.
- If there is no relevant notice, check whether the error occurs during platform sign-in or after the game reaches its own login process.
- If the problem persists or appears tied to your account, use GGG’s official support options rather than assuming an outage.
Why a login failure does not always mean the game servers are down
Login involves more than one service. A problem may involve Path of Exile 2’s game service, the platform or account used to sign in, or the player’s local internet connection. The available sources do not identify which cause applies to an individual login failure.
Game service or realm
A game-side incident can affect access to the game, but the historical examples below are not evidence of a current incident. Check for a current GGG announcement before drawing that conclusion.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Platform or account sign-in
On February 12, 2025, a GGG staff response said a Steam issue was preventing some Steam users from signing in to the Path of Exile website. That was a dated, specific website sign-in problem; it does not establish that Steam or Path of Exile 2 is having the same problem now. If you sign in through Steam, check the platform’s sign-in status and support as well as GGG’s notices.
Local connection
Steam describes Path of Exile 2 as an online co-op game and lists broadband internet as a network requirement. That makes a working connection necessary, but it does not diagnose a particular timeout. If official notices show no relevant incident, consider whether the issue is limited to your connection or account and contact support if you cannot resolve it.

What past server problems can—and cannot—tell you
In a separate historical announcement, GGG said DDoS-protection measures were blocking legitimate traffic and unexpectedly closing game instances. This demonstrates that protective systems have previously affected players, but the announcement does not show that the same cause is active now. An old incident is context, not a current diagnosis.
Likewise, a community post asking “Auth servers dead?” and describing a login timeout is anecdotal, not an official confirmation of an outage. Treat player reports as a prompt to check GGG’s channels, not as proof.
