Yes. Pink sheep are still rare in Minecraft: Mojang’s release notes say they have a rare chance to spawn in temperate, cold, and warm biomes in both Java Edition 1.21.5 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.70. The updates changed which other sheep colors are common by biome, but did not make pink sheep common.
How rare are pink sheep?
A commonly cited estimate is a 0.164% chance per sheep, or roughly 1 in 610. That figure comes from the Minecraft Wiki on Fandom; its publication year was not established, and it is not a numeric rate published in the Mojang release notes. Mojang describes pink sheep qualitatively as a rare spawn rather than giving a percentage in the notes cited here. Minecraft Wiki (Fandom): Sheep spawning.
The estimate concerns a sheep’s natural color selection. It does not mean you will find one within a particular number of minutes, nor does it give the odds for a whole world or a search route. Those outcomes depend on how many sheep spawn and on the conditions of the search.
Do the odds differ by edition or biome?
The official notes consulted agree on the main point: pink sheep remain rare in all three listed biome groups in Java and Bedrock. They do not provide separate numeric rates by edition or biome.

Mojang’s notes describe sheep wool color as depending on the biome where they spawn. The color distribution changes which non-pink sheep are common or uncommon; pink remains a rare chance across the temperate, cold, and warm groups. Read the version-specific notes at Mojang’s Java Edition 1.21.5 release notes and Mojang’s Bedrock Edition 1.21.70 release notes.
What does “rare” mean when searching?
The 0.164% estimate is a per-sheep color chance, not a promise that one pink sheep appears for every 610 sheep you encounter. A long search can find none, while a lucky search may find one sooner. It is best used to convey that pink is an uncommon natural color, not to predict search time.
