What’s new in Battlefield 2042 Update 9.2.0?
EA released Update 9.2.0 for all platforms on August 18, 2025. Its headline additions were a returning Pacific battlefield, two weapons, two attack jets and a free, 60-tier progression pass. The official Battlefield 2042 Update #9.2.0 notes also list weapon, vehicle, mode, HUD and social fixes. They are publisher patch notes, not independent performance testing.
What map was added in BF2042 9.2?
Iwo Jima returns
Update 9.2.0 added a reimagined Iwo Jima, a location previously featured in Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield V. EA describes its Battlefield 2042 version as a 700×200 map featuring an active volcano, boat landings, bunkers and trenches. The notes do not specify the unit for those dimensions, so they should not be read as a confirmed distance or area measurement.
Which weapons were added?
KFS2000 assault rifle
EA describes the KFS2000 as a bullpup rifle built for high accuracy and easier control. Those are the publisher’s characterizations; the patch notes do not provide independent weapon testing.

Lynx anti-materiel rifle
The Lynx is a semi-automatic anti-materiel rifle. EA says its large cartridge is intended to damage vehicles and demolish environments. Players who participated in the Battlefield 6 Open Beta were to receive it with Update 9.2.0; EA said other players would have a later opportunity to acquire it.
Which vehicles were added?
A-10 Warthog and SU-25TM Frogfoot
Both attack jets entered All-Out Warfare. EA framed them as vehicle-busting aircraft and said it was reducing fighter jets’ ground-combat role in connection with their arrival. The update added or adjusted jet weapon options and abilities, but the official notes do not provide a complete side-by-side performance comparison between the A-10 and Frogfoot.

The jet changes included revised weapon visuals and audio in some cases, maneuverability and camera adjustments, a new explosive secondary weapon for soft targets, and changes to cannons, air-to-ground missiles, rocket pods and countermeasures. Pilots also received an emergency secondary-countermeasure option and abilities that trade mobility against damage or ammunition. The notes include additional behavior fixes for the aircraft.
Other aircraft balance changes
EA also reduced regular rocket-pod ammunition and blast damage for the F-35 and SU-57, while increasing their afterburner duration. The XFAD-4 Draugr received several changes to its high-explosive and napalm weapons. Consult the official 9.2.0 changelog for the exact values and weapon-specific details.

How did the Battlefield 6 rewards work?
Road to Battlefield pass structure
The free Road to Battlefield pass had 60 tiers and over 50 new rewards inspired by Battlefield 1, Battlefield V, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. EA said 30 exclusive Battlefield 6 rewards were distributed across tiers 8, 19, 30, 40, 49 and 60.
The announced pass period was August 18 through October 7, 2025. That window has ended, so the event’s limited-time unlocks should not be described as currently earnable. EA’s September 8, 2025 hotfix later stated that tier-skip functionality was active while the pass was available.

What is confirmed about the tier 8 cosmetics?
In a separate explainer published August 29, 2025, EA identified the Battlefield 1-era tier 8 rewards as the “Storm of Steel” Player Card Background, “Western Front” Weapon Package, “In the Trenches” Player Card Icon and “Hellfighter” Player Card Title. The Road to Battlefield 6 reward explainer is the source for those named tier 8 items; this list does not establish the contents of the other reward tiers.

Beyond the headline content, EA’s notes describe fixes and balance work across weapons, vehicles and the game interface. Examples include weapon-attachment and accuracy fixes, an NTW-50 anti-materiel damage adjustment against light and civilian vehicles and deployed gadgets, vehicle-damage changes, and general HUD and social fixes. EA’s September 8, 2025 Update 9.2.1 hotfix notes are separate from the original 9.2.0 changelog. They cover fixes involving the Lynx, SOFLAM and Tracer Dart target messaging, among other issues, and note that tier skips were active for the Road to Battlefield pass.
