What was the latest reported PlayStation status?
In the October 8, 2026 snapshot, Sony’s status page said: “PlayStation’s online services are up and running, but there are external, internet-wide issues that might affect your experience. Once these external issues are resolved, you should have no problem connecting.” It also listed an account-management issue affecting Create Account on Web, with a displayed start time of October 8, 2026 at 12:08 AM. Sony’s notice said, “You might have difficulty signing in or creating an account. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.” The page marked Gaming and social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct as running. These are snapshot details, not confirmation that the issue is still active; check the official status page for updates.
How to tell whether PSN or your connection is the problem
1. Check the affected service on Sony’s status page
Look for the feature you are trying to use, such as account management, gaming and social, or the Store. A reported issue in one category does not establish that all PlayStation Network services are unavailable. If Sony lists a problem affecting your feature, follow the status updates and wait for restoration rather than changing your home-network settings.
2. Use outage reports as a secondary signal
Downdetector’s PlayStation Network page reflects user reports; it says an incident is indicated when reports are significantly above the typical volume for that time of day. In the retrieved snapshot, it showed no current problems. A spike can suggest that other users are reporting trouble, but it is not an official Sony declaration and does not establish the cause.

3. If Sony shows no matching issue, troubleshoot your specific error
Run the steps on the PlayStation support page for the error code shown on your console. The fixes differ by error, so do not apply advanced network changes intended for one code to every connection problem.

- Check Sony’s PlayStation Service Status for an issue affecting the service you need.
- Restart the PS5.
- On the console, open Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection.
- Restart your router, then retry the connection.
- If the problem continues, wait and try again later.
For error NW-102650-4
Sony’s NW-102650-4 support page recommends checking service status and the local connection. It also gives optional network-setting steps specific to this error; consult that page before changing advanced settings.
- Restart the PS5 and router and modem.
- If you are using Wi-Fi, try a LAN cable if available. If you remain on Wi-Fi, move the console nearer the router or reduce obstructions.
- For advanced router changes, contact your router vendor or internet service provider.
When a wired connection can help
A LAN cable lets you test whether the console’s wireless connection or local Wi-Fi conditions are contributing to a problem. Sony documents wired and wireless setup for PS5 and PS4 in its PlayStation internet setup guide. A cable may help diagnose a local connection, but it cannot restore a PlayStation service that Sony reports as unavailable.

Sony says PS5 supports IPv6 but not IPv6-only connections. If you are unfamiliar with advanced network settings, Sony advises asking your internet provider or network administrator rather than changing them blindly.
