How do you join a crossplay game?
- Have one player host a game on a supported platform.
- Share the joining code with the other players.
- Use that code to join the host’s session. The publisher’s crossplay explainer sums up the process as: “Just share the same code!” Crossplay explainer.
How many players can join?
The publisher says Steam- and Epic-hosted sessions support up to eight players across platforms. It also cautions that PS5 and Xbox hosts have different limitations, but its crossplay announcement does not specify those host limits. Does crossplay mean cross-progression?
No such conclusion follows from crossplay. Crossplay lets players on different platforms join the same multiplayer session; it does not establish that saves or progression transfer between platforms. The official crossplay sources cited here do not answer whether Return to Moria supports cross-platform saves, so treat that as unconfirmed rather than assuming either yes or no.

The publisher’s current Buy Now page lists the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S Store. Store availability identifies where the game is sold, not whether saves transfer: publisher Buy Now page. The Golden Update announcement said crossplay arrived with the Steam and Xbox release on August 27, 2024, alongside the existing PS5 and Epic versions: release announcement.
