How co-op changes the recommendation
Resident Evil 5
The official U.S. PlayStation listing describes Resident Evil 5 as supporting single-player, one to two local players, and up to four online players with PlayStation Plus. That makes co-op an explicit part of its appeal, while solo play remains an option. The same listing includes the Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape story expansions, along with additional modes. Capcom said each campaign supports two-player split-screen or online co-op, with additional player-controlled allies available in some online battles. Its official U.S. PlayStation listing describes single-player, one to two local players, and up to six online players with PlayStation Plus; the PS4 edition includes DLC and character costumes. The campaign structure and broader multiplayer options make it a more expansive proposition than RE5, but also a less focused one. What to expect from Resident Evil 6’s tone and pacing
Resident Evil 6 is the riskier recommendation. In a March 2026 revisit, PC Gamer contributor Robert Zak described the game’s co-op as highly enjoyable while pointing to chaotic set pieces, inconsistent QTEs and an outsized action tone. He wrote: “Resident Evil 6 still remains one of disappointingly few full-blooded campaigns you can play splitscreen on PC.” That is one critic’s assessment, not a universal verdict. The cited PlayStation pages cover the U.S. PS4 editions and include a PS5 compatibility note; they do not establish edition details or availability on every platform. Resident Evil 5 is also listed on Steam for PC. Steam Support identifies it as a Capcom game released September 15, 2009, and lists PC system requirements along with single-player and co-op features.
