Roblox said average daily active users rose 10% year over year to 123 million, while hours engaged rose 5% to 29 billion. The figures show slower growth than a year earlier, not a year-over-year decline. “Players” is shorthand here: Roblox’s DAU measure counts active registered accounts, not unique people.
What Roblox’s latest figures show
Roblox Corporation reported that both of its main platform-activity measures were higher in Q2 2026 than in Q2 2025. The quarter ended June 30, 2026.
| Measure | Q2 2026 | Q2 2025 | What changed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Average daily active users (DAUs) | 123 million; up 10% year over year | 111.8 million; up 41% year over year | DAUs increased, but the growth rate was lower. |
| Hours engaged | 29 billion; up 5% year over year | 27.4 billion; up 58% year over year | Hours increased, but the growth rate was lower. |
Roblox described Q2 2026 DAUs and hours as largely in line with its expectations and noted the comparison with the prior year was challenging. The unusually high Q2 2025 growth rates make the slowdown stand out; they do not mean the later totals fell. Roblox’s Q2 2026 shareholder letter reports the current figures, while its Q2 2025 results provide the comparison figures.
How to tell whether “players are decreasing”
The answer depends on the comparison and metric. For the global platform, Q2 2026 DAUs and hours were both higher year over year. A quarter-over-quarter change would be a different comparison and can reflect seasonality or other short-term effects; it should not be substituted for the year-over-year result. Likewise, DAUs describe active account reach, while hours engaged describe time spent across Roblox activities.

Roblox said Russia’s reinstatement during June modestly benefited sequential DAU and hours trends. Because access resumed late in the quarter, the company said Russia remained an approximately three-percentage-point headwind to year-over-year growth. This context does not reverse the reported global year-over-year increases.
Global growth varies by region
The global totals do not mean every region grew at the same pace. In Q2 2026, Roblox reported positive DAU growth in the regions below, with notably different rates:

| Region | DAUs, year over year | Hours engaged, year over year |
|---|---|---|
| Japan | Up 67% | Up 61% |
| India | Up 64% | Up 59% |
| U.S. and Canada | Up 6% | Up 1% |
These are company-reported Q2 2026 growth rates, not a claim that every market or individual experience followed the same pattern. The comparatively low hours growth in the U.S. and Canada also illustrates why DAUs and time spent should not be treated as interchangeable measures.
What Roblox counts as a player
Roblox defines a DAU as a user who logged in and visited Roblox through its website or application on a unique registered account on a given calendar day. Since one person can use multiple accounts, 123 million average DAUs is not a count of 123 million distinct people. The definition and related qualifications appear in the company’s Q2 2026 Form 10-Q.

Hours engaged is a separate measure of aggregate session time. Roblox’s calculation can include time in games, Roblox Studio, chat, avatar personalization, and the Creator Store, as well as some non-active time. Tracking can also differ across devices, so hours are not simply a count of gameplay time.

The figures are Roblox’s own estimates, derived from internal data; they are not independently validated. The company warns that implementation challenges, methodology changes, operational constraints, and botting can affect its metrics, and that figures may not always be comparable as methods evolve. They are useful for understanding reported platform trends, but they do not establish an exact count of unique human players.
