No—Rockstar Games has not confirmed two new IPs. The claim comes from a December 2023 report that repeated an anonymous alleged insider’s statement naming Agent and an unnamed medieval-fantasy project. Rockstar did not confirm or comment on that report.
A separate 2025 account from Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser does establish that the studio once explored a fantasy-medieval “knight” concept after Red Dead Redemption 2. Houser said it “didn’t get very far,” so that account supports an abandoned or dormant experiment, not an announced game in active production.

What the “two new IPs” story actually says
The two-project claim originated with an Appuals report published on December 26, 2023, titled “Rockstar Games Reportedly Working on Two New IPs: Agent and Medieval Fantasy Title.” The article attributed the information to an individual who claimed access to Grand Theft Auto V source code. The alleged source was quoted as saying: “There are two new IPs in development: AGENT and Medieval IP.”

The same report presented Agent as a project that might target a “new generation” of hardware and described the medieval project as being developed after Red Dead Redemption 2. Those details are allegations relayed through an anonymous online source, not an announcement, interview, filing or product listing. Appuals explicitly stated that Rockstar had not officially confirmed or commented on the claims.

- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
That distinction is the central fact. “Rockstar is making two new games” is too strong. The defensible description is that one report repeated an unverified leak about two supposed projects, one of which was called Agent and the other of which had no confirmed title.
What evidence exists beyond the original leak?
No independent production trail for a medieval game
A later NoobFeed review examined the claim and reported that the underlying sources could not be checked. It found no public Rockstar job postings, art or asset trails, or filed trademarks demonstrating that a medieval game was being built. That does not prove that no internal experiment ever existed; studios can investigate ideas without leaving a public record. It does mean there is no reliable public evidence that a medieval title had reached announced or demonstrable production.
The review also addressed a possible source of confusion: Take-Two trademarked Project Ethos, but that project belonged to 31st Union, another Take-Two business, rather than Rockstar. It should not be used as evidence for a Rockstar medieval game.
Dan Houser confirms an early concept, not a game
On November 4, 2025, IT之家 reported comments from Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser in a Lex Fridman interview. In translation, Houser said: “After finishing Red Dead Redemption 2, we did try a ‘knight’ concept — a fantasy-style medieval world design. I thought that could be a lot of fun, and I still like the idea, but it didn’t get very far.”

The report further described the work as background settings and informal ideas. Rockstar never truly began the script, according to the account. This is stronger evidence than the anonymous 2023 leak that a medieval-themed idea was discussed internally, but it does not establish a finished design, a formal project name, a production team, platforms, a release window or a continuing project. Houser’s wording points to an early concept that stalled.
Agent and the medieval concept compared
The two items are often presented as a matched pair, but the quality and meaning of the evidence are different.
| Question | Agent | Medieval project or “knight” concept |
|---|---|---|
| Where the claim comes from | A December 2023 Appuals report quoting an alleged insider who claimed access to GTA V source code. | The same anonymous leak, plus Dan Houser’s 2025 description of an early internal concept. |
| Official announcement | None reported. | None reported. |
| Evidence of development | Only the unverified report; no public production materials are established. | Houser confirms an idea was tried, while the evidence review found no public trail of an active medieval production. |
| Setting or genre | The leak frames it as a spy-oriented project, but Rockstar has not described an official design. | Houser described a fantasy-style medieval world and a “knight” concept. Rumored details such as sorcery or specific combat systems are not confirmed. |
| Current status | Rumored and unconfirmed. | An early concept that “didn’t get very far”; best treated as shelved or abandoned unless Rockstar says otherwise. |
| Release information | No date, platform, preorder, edition or product listing. | No date, platform, preorder, edition or product listing. |
The table matters because “a concept existed” and “a game is in development” are different stages. Houser’s statement moves the medieval idea from pure rumor to acknowledged experimentation, but it does not move it to active production.
Timeline of the two-IP claim
- After Red Dead Redemption 2: According to Houser’s later account, Rockstar tried a fantasy-medieval “knight” concept. The work remained at the level of settings and informal ideas, and the script was never properly started.
- December 23, 2023: The alleged insider, identified in the Appuals report as Budzz0, was quoted saying, “There are two new IPs in development: AGENT and Medieval IP.” This was an online assertion, not a company statement.
- December 26, 2023: Appuals published its report and noted that Rockstar had not confirmed or commented on the rumors.
- Later evidence review: NoobFeed reported that the sources could not be independently checked and found no job postings, asset trails or trademarks proving an active medieval game. It also separated Take-Two’s Project Ethos from Rockstar.
- November 4, 2025: IT之家 reported Houser’s Lex Fridman interview comments. His description supported the existence of an early medieval experiment while emphasizing that it did not progress far.
What Take-Two’s filings say about Rockstar’s strategy
Take-Two Interactive’s fiscal-2024 Form 10-K describes Rockstar’s strategy this way: “Rockstar Games’ strategy is to develop a limited number of titles that are known for their quality and longevity in the market for which they can create sequels and incremental revenue opportunities through virtual currency, add-on content, and in-game purchases.”

- This game will no longer support Windows 7 or 8 operating systems starting January 30, 2024.
That statement explains why a rumored project should not be treated like a normal annual release. Rockstar concentrates on a small number of large productions, and many ideas can be explored without becoming products. A concept can be tested, rewritten or dropped while the company continues to support its established franchises.
In the portfolio section cited in the filing, Take-Two identified Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto, LA Noire, Max Payne, Midnight Club and Red Dead Redemption franchises. It did not list Agent or a medieval title there. An omission from a corporate portfolio list is not proof that an unannounced project was cancelled, but it provides no official support for either alleged new IP.
The filing recorded the following sales figures, all stated by Take-Two in 2024: the Grand Theft Auto series had sold in more than 420 million units worldwide; Grand Theft Auto V had sold in more than 195 million units worldwide; and Red Dead Redemption 2 had sold more than 60 million units worldwide. These are sold-in figures reported by the company, not forecasts for the rumored projects.
The same filing said Grand Theft Auto VI was planned for fall 2025 at the time the document was issued. That was a dated corporate forecast, not evidence that Agent or a medieval game was scheduled around it.

Is Agent coming back?
There is no publicly confirmed Rockstar game currently established in the cited material as Agent. The name appears in the 2023 leak, along with the suggestion that it might be intended for a newer hardware generation. No official logo, announcement, platform list, gameplay footage, release window, preorder page or product description accompanies that claim.
Because the leak gives the project a recognizable name, it can look more concrete than the medieval item. A name alone is not proof of production. Until Rockstar publishes a trailer, game page, press release, trademark context tied to the studio, job listing that clearly identifies the project, or another attributable announcement, Agent should be described as rumored and unconfirmed.
Is Rockstar making a medieval game?
Rockstar did explore a medieval-fantasy idea, according to Houser, but the available account describes an experiment rather than a greenlit game. The phrase “Project Medieval” is a convenient label used in online discussion, not an established Rockstar title. Houser’s comments do not identify a final name, protagonist, world, platform or business plan.
The concept could theoretically be revived, but there is no evidence in the cited material that it was revived. It is therefore more accurate to call it a shelved, abandoned or dormant concept than an upcoming release. Readers should also separate Houser’s comments from the more elaborate details attached to the leak. Knightly combat, magic, a specific historical period or an open-world structure may sound plausible, but none is confirmed by Rockstar.

How to tell a real Rockstar announcement from a rumor
For a project at this company’s scale, several forms of evidence would normally make the status clearer:
- Rockstar or Take-Two announcement: An official newsroom post, investor communication or game page is the strongest confirmation.
- Attributable developer comments: A named Rockstar representative or creator discussing the project on the record carries more weight than an anonymous account.
- Consistent employment evidence: Multiple Rockstar job postings that identify a setting, technology or project can indicate active work, although they still do not guarantee release.
- Registered intellectual property with context: A trademark matters only when its owner, classification and connection to Rockstar are clear. A Take-Two trademark owned by another studio is not Rockstar evidence.
- Release infrastructure: A platform listing, rating-board entry, trailer, preorder page or documented product announcement indicates a materially later stage than a rumor.
Conversely, an anonymous leak, an unattributed screenshot, a generic trademark, or a social-media post repeating another article should not be upgraded to “confirmed” merely because it has circulated widely.
What can be stated confidently
- The December 2023 two-IP story named Agent and a medieval IP, but it came from an unverified insider claim.
- Rockstar did not confirm or comment on that report.
- A later review found no reliable public corroboration for an active medieval production.
- Dan Houser said Rockstar tried a fantasy-medieval “knight” concept after Red Dead Redemption 2, but it did not progress far and never reached a fully developed script.
- Neither project has a supported release date, platform list, preorder, edition, soundtrack, physical product or merchandise listing.
- Take-Two’s published Rockstar portfolio and strategy provide context for cautious expectations but do not confirm either rumored project.
Take-Two’s March 3, 2025 announcement about Rockstar’s acquisition of Video Games Deluxe says Rockstar products are delivered through physical retail, digital download, online platforms and cloud streaming services. That describes the company’s distribution channels in general; it does not establish a retail or digital listing for Agent or a medieval title.
