Yes—but it depends on which Pokémon continuity you mean. In the anime, Norman and Caroline are explicitly married: an episode centers on their wedding anniversary. That does not make every popular pairing canon, or establish the same relationship in the games, manga, or other adaptations.
Why continuity matters in Pokémon
Pokémon does not tell one identical story across every medium. The Pokémon Company describes the animated series as respecting the original games’ scenario while following its own storyline. Read an anime relationship as anime canon unless a source establishes it in another continuity.
The official Pokémon Parents page describes the Ash and Pikachu series as running for over 25 years and more than 1,000 episodes; the page does not specify a publication year. That long-running story includes many interactions, but a meaningful scene or a popular interpretation is not by itself proof that two characters are a couple.
The clearest confirmed couple: Norman and Caroline
In the anime episode “Love, Petalburg Style!”, Norman’s children worry after seeing him visit Nurse Joy. The official episode synopsis explains that Nurse Joy was helping Norman prepare fireworks for his wedding anniversary. Norman and his family then watch the fireworks together. The anniversary confirms that Norman and Caroline are married in the anime.

What about Ash, Serena, and Misty?
Ash and Serena
The official summary for Serena’s introduction says she met Ash years earlier at Pokémon summer camp. That shared history is part of their anime story, but it does not establish that they began dating or became a couple. Romantic interpretations of their interactions should be identified as interpretations, not confirmed relationship status.
Ash and Misty
The official synopsis of “The Rainbow and the Pokémon Master!” says Ash, Misty, and Brock part ways and head home before Ash sets off on another journey. It does not identify Ash and Misty as a couple. The ending therefore does not confirm them as a romantic pairing; that is separate from how viewers may interpret earlier moments.

Brock and Olivia: interest is not the same as a relationship
In “Heart of Fire, Heart of Stone!”, Brock is determined to meet Kahuna Olivia. The official synopsis says she is initially taken aback, then the two bond over their shared love of Rock types and perform a paired Z-Move during a Team Rocket attack. It does not say they begin dating or become a couple, so the episode supports describing Brock as interested and the pair as bonding—not as an established couple.

For any proposed Pokémon pairing, check the claim against the specific version of the story and the evidence being cited:

- Identify the continuity. A development in the anime is not automatically a development in the mainline games, manga, or another adaptation.
- Look for explicit status. A stated marriage, dating relationship, or mutual romantic commitment is stronger evidence than a suggestive scene or one character’s attraction.
- Separate fact from interpretation. A shared past, dramatic gesture, or moment of closeness may invite a romantic reading without confirming a couple.
- Check what the story actually resolves. An official synopsis can establish events it names, but silence about romance should not be stretched into proof that a relationship exists—or that it never exists in any other part of the franchise.
