Yes. Deltarune has meaningful route variations, including the Weird Route that starts in Chapter 2 and a separate Sword Route in Chapter 3. But creator Toby Fox’s FAQ says the game has “One” ending. That means route differences should not be mistaken for proof of multiple final endings; how unfinished chapters will resolve those differences is not yet established.
What does “different routes” mean in Deltarune?
Routes are branches in the story that change scenes, encounters, or chapter outcomes based on the player’s actions. They can make a playthrough substantially different without creating a separate final ending. Toby Fox’s official FAQ answers “How many endings are there?” with “One.” The FAQ’s answer is about the ending count; route documentation separately records meaningful variations within the chapters.
The FAQ also says, “There’s something more important than reaching the end.” In context, that sentiment fits a game where choices and chapter events matter even though the FAQ states there is one ending.
What is the Weird Route, or Snowgrave Route?
The best-known alternate branch is commonly called the Weird Route. Its pivotal Chapter 2 spell, Snowgrave, is the reason many players also call it the Snowgrave Route. The broader route is generally identified as the Weird Route in the Deltarune Wiki’s route documentation.

Spoilers below: The following explains how the Chapter 2 branch begins and what kinds of story changes it brings.
How the Chapter 2 branch begins
According to the route documentation, the player begins the Weird Route in Chapter 2 by backtracking after Noelle joins and freezing enemies. These actions put Noelle’s choices and abilities at the center of the branch. This is a community-documented route mechanic, not a procedure stated in Toby Fox’s FAQ.

What changes in Chapter 2
The route reference describes Chapter 2 as the branch’s most significantly altered chapter. It records a changed final area and a different final battle sequence, rather than merely a few optional lines of dialogue.
Do route differences carry into later chapters?
Yes, according to the route overview. A save with a Chapter 2 Weird Route produces minor differences in Chapter 3, and the documentation also identifies Weird Route content in Chapters 4 and 5. These carryovers show that the branch is not limited to the moment when it begins.

The same overview identifies a separate Chapter 3 branch called the Sword Route, also connected in-game with “The Forbidden Path.” It should not be treated as another name for the Chapter 2 Weird Route: the branches have different starting points and labels.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How many endings does Deltarune have?
Toby Fox’s official FAQ states that Deltarune has one ending. The FAQ also says Chapter 6 is in development and the game is complete through Chapter 5. Those statements establish the FAQ’s current ending count and development status, but they do not explain how the unfinished chapters will reconcile route branches or whether earlier choices will affect the eventual resolution.
