There is no verified, consistently ranked top 10 of AA games in the available rankings. The sources reviewed use broad all-time game lists rather than an AA-only category, and they do not apply one shared scoring, platform, edition, and review-count standard. A reliable answer therefore needs to separate promising candidates from games whose AA status and rank have actually been established.
Why there is no definitive AA top 10
“AA” has no consistently applied definition in the ranking sources reviewed. Without a stated rule—such as a documented development budget or team-size threshold—it is not possible to determine which games qualify, much less rank ten of them as an objective all-time list.
The available rankings also do not provide a complete AA-only leaderboard built from a single critic-score aggregator, platform and edition policy, and minimum review count. A numbered list that presents ten games as settled fact would imply a level of comparability the evidence does not establish.
What the available rankings do tell us
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
Metacritic’s all-time PC list includes Disco Elysium: The Final Cut and identifies it as the definitive edition. That makes it a candidate to investigate, but the listing alone does not establish that it meets an AA definition or that it belongs in an AA top ten.

It Takes Two
VideoGamesCritic’s all-time ranking covers “AAA & major” releases and tracked games, not an AA-only category. Its inclusion of a title in a broad ranking cannot, by itself, prove either AA classification or an AA-specific position.
Hades
An August 2021 NME report gave Hades scores of 93 on PS5 and 94 on Xbox Series X|S at that time. These are historical, platform-specific figures; they should not be presented as current scores or compared directly with another game’s aggregate unless the aggregator, edition basis, and platform are aligned.

What a defensible top-ten list would need
- Define AA. State a clear inclusion rule and cite evidence that each game meets it. The reviewed ranking sources do not supply a standard AA definition.
- Use one critic-score source. Do not combine critic aggregates with user scores, awards, or scores from a different service.
- Set a platform and edition policy. Scores may differ by platform, as the reported Hades figures illustrate, and a ranking may list a specific edition, as Metacritic does for Disco Elysium: The Final Cut.
- Choose and disclose a review-count minimum. A score based on very few reviews is not directly comparable to one supported by substantial critic coverage. The available results do not establish a suitable threshold.
- Date the ranking and explain ties. Aggregates and all-time lists can change; a published order should say when it was checked and how tied scores are handled.
How to read “highest reviewed” lists
Before treating any purported AA ranking as definitive, check whether it names its AA rule, uses critic scores consistently, identifies platform and edition, and gives a minimum review count. If those details are missing, treat the list as an editorial selection rather than a verified all-time ranking.
